But now there is not a credit2 able and effective method to app raise it. A im ing at this difficult p roblem, and considering it s a carbon isotope bal2 ance p rocess, regardless of the formation mechanism s of biogenic gas. The C and C amount of initial organic matter before generation and that of residual organic matter and other p roductions after generation should keep conservation. Carbon isotop ic equilibrium method (model) is exp lored and established to assess biogenic gas in this paper, which is demarcated and app lied according to the abundant analyzed data in Songliao basin. Results show that the accum ula2 tively generated biogenic methane of, and types organic matters are m l/g, m l/g and m l/ g, respectively.
