10 The spatial evaluation of urban residential suitability in Dalian REN Xue2hui 1, L IN Xia 1, ZHAN G Hai2jing 1, ZHAN G Wen2zhong 2 (11 College of City and Environment, Liaoning Normal University, Dalian , China 21 Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS, Beijing , China) Abstract :In recent years, in order to create a better and more suitable space for living and work, and also for improving t he living standard of people continuously, whet her a city is amenity city has become t he research focus of scholars1 Hence attention should be paid to t he research o n spatial characteristics of urban residential suitabilit y which are still inade2 quately dealt wit h. St udy o n t he spatial st ruct ure of urban residential suitabilit y and re2 st rict factor s has great t heoretical and p ractical significance to urban develop ment p rogram2 ming and cit y enviro nmental planning1 Therefore choo sing co nvenience, healt h, safet y, environment comfort level and convenience of going out to travel as the indexes, question2 naires are designed to investigate t he resident s who had stable life in Dalian for more t han half a year1 Then t he spatial characteristics of urban residential suitabilit y in Dalian are e2 valuated by A H P and Q cluster analysis met hod taking administrative divisions and f unc2 tional regions as basic unit1 And t he analysis is based on t he data of quantifiable question2 naires1 We hope t hat it can provide reference for t he urban construction of Dalian1 The fol2 lowing conclusions are drawn : In citizens opinion, some differences exist in urban residen2 tial suitabilit y in different dist rict s,and in downtown, t he satisfactio n descends gradually f rom t he eastern coastal region to t he nort hwestern urban2rural2integration2area1 Compar2 atively speaking, t he urban residential suitability in Zhongshan district is the best contrari2 ly, Ganjingzi dist rict in urban2rural2integratio n2area is ranked last in urban residential suit2 ability evaluation1 And in outer suburbs, urban residential suitability satisfaction in L ush2 unkou district and develop ment zone is higher t han Jinzhou district1 At t he same time, t he result of clustering analysis of different f unctional regions shows t hat t he area which is po2 litical, economic and commercial center of Dalian has t he highest score of urban residential suitability ; t he intersections of urban and rural areas in nort hwest of the city have t he low2 est score ; alt hough t he urban residential suitability in some of t he outer suburbs is better, t he difference is significant among indicators1 On t he whole, t he score descends gradually f rom city center to suburbs in spatial pattern and divergences of indexes are also lager1 It accords wit h t he result of evaluation on district1 Key words :Dalian ; urban ; residential suitabilit y ; spatial evaluatio n
