(Type of Incident) Update: Hurricane Irma is a Category 4 Hurricane with winds of 150 mph with higher gusts. Currently located 80 miles northeast of Cabo Lucrecia Cuba. Movement is west northwest at 16 mph. Category 4 Hurricane Irma is forecast to remain a dangerous hurricane as it crosses the southern and central Bahamas today and tomorrow. A northward turn is forecast as it approaches south Florida tomorrow, with a track nearly parallel to much/all of the Florida Peninsula, either inland or close to the coast Sunday into early Monday; current forecast is up the spine of the peninsula. Potential/Current Impacts: All counties should be getting ready for a major hurricane. Tropical Storm Watches/Warnings will be extended northward later this morning. Reasonable Worse Case Scenario for Wind Threat o Winds greater than 110mph. Plan for extreme winds of major hurricane force. Prepare for devastating to catastrophic wind damage. o Probabilities of sustained Tropical Storm (39 mph or greater) winds have increased. Orlando: 92% Cocoa Beach 89% o Probabilities of sustained Hurricane winds are still high. Orlando: 37% Time of Printing: 9/8/2017 8:39 AM Page 1 of 5

2 Cocoa Beach: 38% No threat for Tropical Storm conditions before Saturday evening in the Orlando/Cape area north. Most significant impacts expected Sunday, Sunday night and into early Monday. Hurricane wind onset most likely Sunday afternoon and evening. Breezy conditions likely today, then becoming windy Saturday with passing shower/squalls moving onshore, associated with far outer rain bands. Rainfall totals of 7-12 inches forecast between Friday morning and Monday evening. MCO Operational Actions: The Airport EOC is currently activated to a Level 2 Modified (Coordinating efforts internal and external with airport community partners.) The Airport EOC will be staffed at a Level 2 activation (key response agencies) today, September 8 th, 2017 from 1pm - 4pm. A Level 1 Activation will be implemented on Saturday, September 9 th with an operational period of 2pm - 10pm. Following a series of meetings with our airline partners, it has been determined that for the safety of the traveling public and our employees, Orlando International Airport will cease commercial operations at 5p.m. on Saturday, September 9 th, In the meantime, the Emergency Management Team will continue to actively monitor the weather conditions and work closely with the National Weather Service and state, county/city Emergency Management officials. Current Objectives/Goals: o Execute the Airport Emergency Preparedness Plan by providing a safe and secure operating environment for the traveling public and employees. o Collaborate with internal and external airport partners to implement protective measures in a timely manner to ensure the airport is prepared. o Unified Command will be implemented with Airport Operations as the lead. o Life Safety matters will be led by ARFF and all criminal matters by Orlando Police Department Airport Division. o The Airport s EOC will be activated and staffed as warranted to support the operation. o All pertinent information will disseminated regarding the storm as warranted and in a timely fashion. o Information will be disseminated through various means to include: briefings, meetings, SitReps and based upon information from the local community, state, and federal partners. o All public information will be forwarded to and disseminated through GOAA s Public Affairs Department. All Operational requests, changes in schedules or informational items should be routed through the Airport Ops Center (AOC) at ext Any facility issues, requests for visqueen, sand bags or other facility related items should be routed through the Airport s Maintenance Dispatch at ext. 4000, press 2 for the Central Plant Operator. Orange County Operational Actions: Mayor Teresa Jacobs issued a local Declaration of Emergency. Shelters will begin opening Saturday morning. Residents are encouraged to frequently check for the most recent information or call 311. Orange County continues to closely monitor the availability of hotel rooms in the tri-county area of Central Florida. Hotels are currently near capacity.
