BOUNDARIES: "Beginning at the mouth of the Wabash, thence up the same with the meanders thereof to the mouth of White river, thence up White river with the meanders thereof to the forks of White river, thence up the East Fork of White river to where the line between sections number twenty and twenty nine, in township number one, north, of range number four, west, strikes the same, thence with said line to the line of Harrison county, thence with the said line dividing the counties of Knox and Harrison to the Ohio river, thence down to the Ohio river to the beginning. "... the same is hereby divided into two separate and distinct counties by a line beginning on the MTabash river and known... by the name of Rector's base line, and with said line East until it intersects the line of Harrison county... the tract of country falling within the southern division thereof shall be known... by the name... of the county of Warrick." BOUNDARY CHASGES: A11 of Warrick County east of the line dividing ranges 5 and 6 west of the second principal meridian was given to Perry County. COUNTY SEAT: By an act of September 1, 1814, fractional section 7, township 7 south, range 8 west was made the site of the county seat. It was called Darlington. 5 804 INDIANA HISTORICAL COLLECTIONS WARRICK COUNTY 111 JANUARY 7, 1818: Alteration by statute forming Vanderburgh County, effective February 1, BOUNDARY CHANGE: All that part of Warrick County west of a line beginning where the line dividing townships 4 and 5 south intersects "the range line dividing ranges nine and ten west, thence south with the said range line to a line dividing townships five and six south, thence east to the first section line in range nine, thence south with said section line to the Ohio river," was transferred to Vanderburgh County. JANUARY 10, 1818: Alteration by statute forming Spencer County, effective February 1, BOUNDARY CHANGE: All that part of Warrick County east of a line "beginning on the Ohio river where the section line passes through the centre of the seventh range strikes the same; thence north with the said section line until it strikes Little Pigeon creek; thence up said creek, with the meanders thereof, to the Polk Patch Fork; thence up the Polk Patch Fork, with the meanders thereof, to the township line passing between townships four aad [and] five," was transferred to Spencer County. COUNTY SEAT: Commissioners appointed under the act of January 7, 1818, to relocate the county seat, reported March 19, They selected a site in sections 26 and 25, township 5 south, range 8 west of the second principal meridian. BOUNDARIES: "Beginning on the Ohio river, where the section line passes through the centre of range seven strikes the same; thence north with said line to Little Pigeon creek; thence up said creek with the meanders thereof to the Polk Patch fork; thence up the last named stream, with the meanders thereof, to the line dividing townships four and five south, thence east with said township line, to the line dividing ranges five and six; thcnce north to the line of Dubois county; thence west with the same to the Gibson county line; thence with the line of Gibson county, to the eastern line of Vanderburgh county; thence south with the same to the Ohio river; and thence with the said river to the place of beginning." BOUNDARY CHANGE: The act attached to Spencer County all that part of Warrick within the following boundaries: "Beginning on the Ohio River four miles west of the Spencer county line; thence running north to Little Pigeon creek; thence up the said creek, with the meanders thereof to the line of Spencer county; thence south to the Ohio River; thence down the Ohio River to the place of beginning." BOUNDARY CHANGE: "All that part of the county of Pike included within the following boundaries, viz: beginning at the south-east corner of Pike county; thence running north two miles; thence west, twelve miles; thence north, one mile; thence west, to Gibson county; thence south, to \Varrick county; thence east, to the place of beginning," was attached to \Varrick County. 15 814 INDIANA HISTORICAL COLLECTIONS WARRICK COUNTY VIII JANUARY 13, 1844: Alteration by statute, effective on passage, regulating the boundaries of the counties of Warrick and Gibson. BOUNDARY CHANGE: The law of January 13, 1844, provided that "the boundary lines between the counties of Warrick and Gibson be... fixed and established according to the provisions of the act entitled 'An act relative to county boundaries,' approved February 10, 1831, and all acts passed subsequent to said mentioned act, altering or changing said act in any manner whatever, be... repealed, so far as the same relates to the said boundary between the counties of Warrick and Gibson." BOUNDARY CHANGE: "The following described line shall form and be the boundary line between the counties of Glbson and Warrick, so far as said counties lie contiguous to each other, to wit: Heginning at the north-east corner of Vandei burgh county; thence running east to the south-east corner of section fifteen, in towship four south, of range nine west; thence north to the northeast corner of section three, in township four south, of range nine west; thence east with the township hne dlviding toxvnships three and four south, to the south east corner of section thirty-two, in township three south, of range eight west; thence north to the north-west corner of section twenty-one, in township three south, of range eight west."
