1 Recommendation To be submitted to Interior Health Authority for monthly update. Monthly Summary 1.0 Background 25 bacteriological samples were collected in October from the Lake Country Water System: Vernon Creek, Okanagan Lake, Oyama Creek, Kalamalka Lake and the Coral Beach water systems (Okanagan Lake) all of which were negative for total coliforms and E.coli. Water Quality Advisories remains on the Vernon Creek, Okanagan and Kal Lake sources due to elevated turbidity. The monthly average water chemistry results are located in Table 2. RDCO Building Permits: two new building permits were referred to DLC for building on This District of Lake Country s upland Drinking water Reservoir: Dee Lake. DLC is working hard to establish higher levels of protection from activities occurring around our water resources. DLC and our consultants continue to collaborate with major stakeholders as we move towards completion of the Draft Watershed Assessment and Protection Plan. The Range component has been high priority since the BWN and Interior Health s formal request to MOFR for the implementation of a plan (under their governing legislation) that ensures implementation of Best Management Practices & protection of DW in the Oyama and Vernon Creek Watersheds. DLC awaits a plan from MOFR as to the location and purpose of fencing between the drinking water reservoirs and distribution intakes. This month two new building permits were referred to DLC for building around the DLC Drinking Water Reservoir Dee lake. This came as a bit of a shock to DLC considering the outstanding conditions surrounding the sale of lease lots such as re zoing by laws and of utmost importance, DLC s application in 2007 to raise the level on DLC s upland drinking water reservoirs (Oyama, Beaver & Crooked chain lakes.) DLC has requested that Interior Health review their water supply and sewage disposal plan and if necessary to make recommendations to ensure protection of our drinking water resource. In order to fully understand the impacts from this development on our drinking water source DLC has requested information from RDCO. However due to a lack of details this matter is now being handled by the DLC Mayor and Administration. Table 1. Bacteriological Results 1
