1 Small Hybride Large Hybride AMR gradiet sesor Liear displacemet, movemets, velocities High precisio Various pole pitches available DESCRIPTION Slidig the MLS-Sesors alog a magetic scale will produce a sie ad a cosie output sigal as a fuctio of the positio. I order to deliver satisfyig results, this will be achieved as log as the air gap betwee sesor edge ad magetic scale surface does ot exceed approximately half of the pole pitch. As the sesor priciple is based o the aisotropic mageto resistace effect, the sigal amplitudes are early idepedet o the magetic field stregth ad therefore air gap variatios do ot have a strog effect o the accuracy. The sesor detects a magetic gradiet field ad is thus almost isesitive to homogeous magetic stray fields. Precise displacemet values will be obtaied by usig a sie/cosie decoder device. The maximal obtaiable precisio depeds o the accuracy of the magetic scale ad o the distace sesor magetic scale. Values of <% of the pole pitch are commo. FEATURES APPLICATIONS Si- / cos-output sigals suitable for sigal evaluatio by stadard-asic s Very high precisio Isesitive to air gap fluctuatios Highly reliable Low iterferece field sesitivity Liear displacemet, movemets, velocities i dirty eviromets Very precise agular measuremet usig pole wheels /9

2 SENSOR BASICS The MLS-sesors cosists of two mageto resistive Wheatstoe bridges, whose resistors are placed i a way that i combiatio with a magetic scale, a sie ad a cosie sigal is obtaied. Thus, MLS sesors will oly work together well with pole stripes that meet the desig pole pitch. I additio, some sesor types itegrate over more tha oe pole i order to improve sesor performace. The magetic scale cosists of magetic rubber material, boded o a steel carrier. The pole pitch of the scale has to match to the sesor type (see characteristic values. MEAS ca provide short strips of scales for referece.
