Armstrong Bixby, OK 700 RE: CC: Bixby High School - % IAQ Liberty OHM File Number -7 Jarred Doubrava Operations Support Manager/District Safety Coordinator Dear Mr. Foutch: On May 9 th, 0, Liberty OHM conducted quality assurance testing at Bixby High School. A total of % of the rooms were selected and tested at random for indoor air quality (spore ). Findings On May 9 th, 7 classrooms, for a total of % of Bixby High School, were selected at random and tested. The ratio of total indoor/outdoor airborne mold concentrations was elevated in rooms SA 0 and E on the day of testing. The following observations were noted: In room SA 0 of Bixby High School elevated concentrations of the water intrusion indicator molds Penicillium/Aspergillus, Chaetomium and Stachybotrys were found. In room E slightly elevated concentrations of Stachybotrys were found. A re-test and inspection of these two rooms was conducted on June th, 0 to verify whether or not any condition exists that would need follow-up repairs, cleaning or abatement. The inspection revealed elevated moisture content (6%) at the north corner of the window along the west wall of room SA 0. Following these findings, Bixby Public Schools pulled the vinyl base from the wall and placed drying fans in the area to aide in drying the wallboard found to be wet. No visible mold was observed on the day of the follow-up inspection. No carpet staining, stained ceiling tiles or other concerns were noted in room SA 0. We will continue to monitor this room closely and perform follow-up air sampling at the beginning of the 0-06 school year. Inspections were also conducted in room E following slightly elevated concentrations of Stachybotrys in the initial sampling on May 9 th. No visible mold, elevated moisture content, stained ceiling tiles or other items of concern were noted. Air sampling results from June th indicated excellent air quality with no elevated concentrations of water intrusion/indicator molds. Recommendations are provided below. Table shows the results of the air samples taken from the selected rooms on May 9 th during normal school hours. Table shows the results of the air samples taken from the follow-up inspection conducted on June th. Recommendations Liberty OHM will conduct follow-up sampling in room SA 0 at Bixby High School at the beginning of the 0-06 school year to ensure no indoor air quality issues are present.
