3 ALGORITHM Learning how to create an algorithm Algorithm: is a step-by-step procedure for calculations or is a procedure or formula for solving a problem. Example of Algorithm: Write an algorithm to read two numbers and find their sum. Inputs to the algorithm: First num1. Second num2. Expected output: Sum of the two numbers. Algorithm: Step1: Start Step2: Read\input the first num1. Step3: Read\input the second num2. Step4: Sum <- num1+num2 // calculation of sum Step5: Print\output Sum Step6: End IF CONDITIONAL PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE RAPTOR Conditional statements W h a t i s a programming language? Raptor program In computer science, conditional statements, conditional expressions and conditional constructs are features of a programming language which perform different computations or actions depending on whether a programmer-specified condition evaluates to true or false. Apart from the case of branch predication, this is always achieved by selectively altering the control flow based on some condition. A programming language is a formal constructed language designed to communicate instructions to a machine, particularly a computer. Programming languages can be used to create programs to control the behavior of a machine or to express algorithms. RAPTOR is a flowchart-based programming environment, designed specifically to help students visualize their algorithms. RAPTOR programs are created visually and executed visually by tracing the execution through the flowchart.
