1 EMS 8 th Grade Math Department Math Florida Standard(s): Learning Goal: Assessments Algebra Preview: Polynomials May 2 nd to June 3 rd, 2016 MAFS.912.A-SSE.1.1b (DOK 2) Interpret expressions that represent a quantity in terms of its context. Interpret parts of an expression, such as terms, factors, and coefficients MAFS.912.A-APR.1.1 : (DOK 1) Understand that polynomials form a system analogous to the integers, namely, they are closed under the operations of addition, subtraction, and multiplication; add, subtract, and multiply polynomials MAFS.912.A-SSE.1.2 (DOK 2) Use the structure of an expression to identify ways to rewrite it Identify ways to rewrite expressions, such as difference of squares, factoring out a common monomial, and regrouping. Classify expressions by structure and develop strategies to assist in classification. Students will be able to classify, add, subtract and multiply polynomials and factor simple polynomial expressions, including factoring out monomials, difference of squares, and using the product sum method.
