The Bulldogs have met the Owls just five times on the diamond, with Georgia leading the all-time series 3-2. The last win came in 2011 when Georgia won 6-1. Georgia and LSU have seen each other 47 times, with LSU leading the series Georgia took the last meeting 9-0 in five innings in the SEC tournament and swept the Tigers in the regular-season. Georgia is currently on a five-game win streak. A Look Back: Georgia hosted then-no. 2 Alabama last week, taking the first game 7-3 before dropping the next two games. The Bulldogs handed Alabama ace Jackie Traina her first loss of the season in the 7-3 win. Wilson: Freshman shortstop Paige Wilson was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season with her performance against the Crimson Tide last weekend. Wilson hit.600 with a double, two home runs and five RBI, while slugging at a clip. Two weeks ago, she provided two game-winning hits last week for the Bulldogs. The first was a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh in game one against South Carolina on Wednesday. With one out and runners at first and second, Wilson belted a RBI-double to left center to score Hubbard and give Georgia the 3-2 win. She came through in the clutch in the final game of the Kentucky series, hitting a solo home run in the top of the seventh to give Georgia a two-run cushion. The run proved to be the game-winner, as Kentucky made it a one-run game in the bottom of the inning and put the tying run on base. On TV: For the second time in a month, Georgia picked up a win against a ranked team on a nationally televised game. Georgia defeated then-no. 4 Florida 3-2 on ESPNU. Last week, the Bulldogs handed then-second ranked Alabama a 7-4 loss on ESPN2 last weekend. Back-to-Back Three Times: The Bulldogs hit back-to-back home runs in each of the three midweek games last week. Ashley Razey and Kristyn Sandberg went back-to-back against USC Upstate, followed by Kristyn Sandberg and Tess Sito hitting consecutive long balls in game one against South Carolina. In game two versus the Gamecocks, Paige Wilson and Ashley Pauly went yard back-to-back. 700 Club: With its 4-3 win over South Carolina in game one on April 11, Georgia claimed its 700th program win. Georgia adopted softball as a varsity sport in 1997 and has seen an abundance of success. The Bulldogs have made it to the Women s College World Series twice, won two SEC titles and made 10 NCAA postseason appearances. Both times the Bulldogs made it to the WCWS, they reached the final four. Just Get On Base: Kristyn Sandberg did not record a hit in last Sunday s win over Kentucky, but was put on base four times, including three times on a hit by pitch and once on a walk. Sandberg leads the team in on-base percentage at.542 and has reached base safely in nine-straight games. Her longest span of reaching base this season was 15. During her current nine-game streak of getting on base, Sandberg has nine hits, five walks and three hit by pitches. She has scored nine runs, hit five home runs and has a batting average of.391. Wilson is Clutch: Paige Wilson has provided some clutch hitting for the Bulldogs in two-out situations this season. The three-time SEC Freshman of the Week is 18-for-43 for a.419 average when at the plate with two outs. She is hitting at a.447 clip with runners in scoring position and.397 with runners aboard. Against SEC opponents, Wilson is hitting.474 with runners in scoring position and.400 with runner aboard. She has done her job as the leadoff hitter in SEC games, hitting.381. She also has two game-winning hits for the Bulldogs against SEC competition. Georgia Pitching: Georgia s pitching staff is proving to be a key link in the success of the team, with a combined ERA of Erin Arevalo leads the team with 27 appearances, including 22 starts and a record of The senior also leads the team in strikeouts with 199 and has a 1.70 ERA. Tess Sito has added strength to the pitching staff this season, as she owns a 7-1 record and an ERA of just Morgan Montemayor is 9-6 with an ERA of 2.70 to go along with 126 strikeouts. Against Ranked Teams: Georgia plays a tough schedule this season, facing 11 teams ranked in the top-25. In addition to the five ranked SEC teams, Georgia plays five ranked non-conference opponents.the Bulldogs are 8-7 against teams ranked in the top-25. Record Watch: Lu Harris-Champer is closing in on her 800th career head coaching win. With the 35 wins already this season, Harris-Champer is now just three wins away from the milestone. On Deck: The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular-season next weekend when they welcome Arkansas to Jack Turner Stadium. Georgia and Arkansas will play a doubleheader on Saturday before closing the series with a Sunday game.
