He and his colleagues were subsequently rescued by British Special Forces in September 2000, when all avenues of negotiation and opportunities of escape had closed. Tha k ou Ste e, ou are a litle star!! Hi Golds Hopefull this is ok fo ou The evening started with President Nicole asking me if I could host the meeting which I was happy to do. Charlotte Mudd was scheduled to host the evening but had another commitment, in to hospital Thursday morning to deliver her baby, we all wish Charlotte good luck, and that's another grand child for our Vice President. Grace was said by the host and food was then served. We started with Leek and Potato soup which was then followed with the main course of chicken and Mushroom pie, mash and veg. As we all finished our excellent treasurer wandered in just before 8 pm and had his dinner. Following dinner President Nicole toasted the Queen and we had the traditional minute tea break. On return we went into B & F. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved. LA T WEEK! Secretary Report. John updated us on 2 items. The first a letter he received from a company interested in supplying us with equipment, at a cost, company to be checked out. The second was a request from an academy trust in Wantage, for some equipment, Council decided it was outside our jurisdiction as not local. Treasurers Report - David gave a very detailed breakdown of what is in the club accounts and where we are with Charity money. Club Service Projects The main one at the moment is the Dragon Boat Race. The first committee meeting on this was last week. Paul Parfrey gave us an update on what was discussed, Paul will send the information out to all club members shortly. The key part is that the club needs to find a new sponsor this year as last years sponsor unfortunately can't continue this year. The other project relates to " Foreign Coins " any spare ones you have please bring in and pass to Peter "Grumpy" Newson. These will be used to help fund a shelter box. Club Admin Paul asked for members to look at the club website to check what dates they are host and let him know who your guest speakers are etc. Fund Raising Nicole asked members to think of ways we can raise money to help the club with further projects. A race night was talked about. Even though Grumpy wasn't at the meeting we understand he was talking about a Scalextric evening in a car showroom. Membership Chris Simms had nothing to report International Pete Goldsworthy gave us information on a Jaipur Limb Fund Raising meeting he was at. On Sunday 9th April a big event is taking place in Swindon and all money raised will help this worthwhile cause. Full details to follow. Birthday announcements none Holiday gifts Steve Weisinger - a tin of Irish tea and some Irish Fudge from 2 holidays in Ireland AOB. Steve Weisinger gave details of a very kind donation to the club of 11 bottles of Alcohol, 3 Gin, 4 Pimms and 4 Irish liqueur from the store manager in Tesco Express, Freshbrook. Nicole then gave a reminder of the Young Carers Ball in March at the Four Pillars hotel. Also if you shop at Waitrose Young Carers is one of

8 the charities that you can put your token in, please do this and let anybody else know. At the clubs Xmas bash held at Nicole and Ian's house in December 553 was raised for The Salvation Army.
