Results show that the chromosome number of Paeonia ostii Phoenix W hite is 10. It is lip loid. Kitagawa is 2n = 2x = 10 = 6m + 2 sm + 2 st, which is belong to 2A type. It has not observed chromosome satellites. Extrapolated Paeonia ostii Phoenix W hite with Paeonia ostii is not the different same thing, whether there is mainly dis2 p lays in chromosome satellites. Compare with the karyotype of Paeon ia ostii and show that from Paeonia ostii to Paeonia ostii Phoenix W hite evolved the course from pure to m ixed and shut different grade. Meiosis is out of step. It was observed that the chromosome bridge was in anaphase, telophase and the diagonal bridge, sp lits unequally, one pair of bridges, etc. were in anaphase, telophase. The unusual phenome2 non in meiosis course of pollen mother cell of Paeonia ostii PhoenixW hite have been analyzed from cell sci2 ence of heredity level. beginning of M arch in Shanghai. The best time to observation of the pollen master cell meiosis is end of February to the Key words: Paeon ia ostii; Chromosome; Karyotype; Pollen mother cell; M eiosis (Cultivar Group of Tree Peony from South Yangtse R iver of China) : ; : : ( F050304) 3 Author for correspondence ( E2mail: huyonghong68@hotmail1com)
