(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length Casing OVB to 6.06m. Rubble from 5.7m G A Casing through gravel or overburden (Gro Casing above ground (Air) c Interbedded greywacke; siltstone; mu 13GS interbedded sedimetns. Mostly medium grey lithic wacke with interbedded mudstone. Large mudstone unit from 7.85m-9.15m. There is some shearing etc, seen with strange bedding offsets, scattered throughout section, but overall core is quite competent. Dominant bedding direction is approx 22/ VN W PCH WM F W carbonate veinlets not uncommon, perva alteration only seen in "iron formation" subunit with pyrite mineralization /SH R / / / / / / pyrite blobby blebs in with carbonate wispy alteration, qtz veinlets (mostly carbonate alt) BD BX 44 1cm vein that is maybe a breccia, all that is left of veinlet is vuggy qtz with tons of hematite powder FOL 26 in phyllitic mudstone CL 24 also a cleavage along the foliation 13GS GS GS GS GS GS Mar-13 3:02:15 PM Page 1 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length SHR patchy tiny white shear lines filled with qtz and/or carbonate throughout section. Very mild. Can see good bedding offset immediately after 11m BD BD Qtz/Carb network of very, very thin white meandering lines asso with mild shearing, patchily throughout section. Carbonate veining/alteration a bit more pervasive (coloring rock blue) in "2d" subunit Qtz vuggy qtz veinlet with tons of hematite powder From To a Phyllitic mudstone big phyllitic mud bed, part of 1c. From To da Sulfide bearing silicate iron formation chloritic laminae, a few pieces of chert maybe? And carbonate wispy alteration that is rather pervasive. Pyrite mineralization is associated with carbonate/qtz wispies. Very fizzy, looks bluish grey d Silicate iron formation 13GS green silicate iron formation, msotly chlorite, with some actinolite, qtz veinlets, carbonate alteration VN M B S B W / / / / / / / BD Qtz/Carb discontinuous veining, some roughly trend along 16-Mar-13 3:02:15 PM Page 2 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length bedding plane, but lits of irregularity, qtz is dark grey and thin veinlets, carbonate is white when thin and bluish when pervasing (after 17m) c interbedded wacke/mudstone Interbedded greywacke; siltstone; mu 13GS GS BD Gabbro 13GS gabbro? At least some of it is gabbro. Large qtz vn/ pervasive silicification at with carbonate as well swirled about. Whole section looks altered ina different way from the rocks around it. Very, very soft, green, and mottled, lots of little carbonate veilets, some qtz veinlets; very clear chill margin at bottom contact (although you could argue that the chill margin is going the other way too but it makes more sense for the unit above to be gabbro. So more of a cooked wacke than a chill margin). I am not totally convinced that the section above the silicification is really a gabbro, it could also be an intensely altered silicate iron formation. With chloritic banding etc P S alteration through "gabbro" looks like lots chlorite/clay mineral? VERY SOFT, exce gthe silicified area in the center. Carbona veinlets are not uncommon. Generally fa line with dominant bedding angle elsewh P I large either qtz +/- carbonate vein or just intensely silicified rock with carbonate alteration as well. Minor hlorite. Looks lik silicified rock / 1/SH R / / / / / 13GS Mar-13 3:02:15 PM Page 3 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length BD 20 a few others. Not oo too intense Qtz/Carb UC measurement. Lower contact is ambiguous, this is possibly also just wide scale silicification, hard to separate from veining especially on lower end c Interbedded greywacke; siltstone; mu 13GS c with carbonate alteration veinlets, small gabbro dyke, pyrrhotite mineralization along shear veinlets in line with bedding PCH W / 1/SH R / / / / / UC 40 both upper and lower for gabbro dykelet BD SHR can see shearing effect in messing around bedding between mudstone and wacke interbeds. Very wavy and brush-strokey FD wide fold nose, bedding <15 and close to 0 for most Carb/Qtz mostly fine carbonate veinlets along shears, or sheeted along bedding. The ones along shears can be any oreintation but core is not terrible sheared here anyway. Mostly along with bedding, measure 60/060 at 24m; also at perpendicular angles to bedding sometimes, also these ones tend to be cleavage points, so anywhere from 35-60/180 approximately 13GS GS GS GS Mar-13 3:02:16 PM Page 4 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length Gabbro gabbro dykelet, UC/LC both 40/ d Silicate iron formation 13GS very chloritic silicate irion formation rock, has been shearead and invaded and altered by carbonate, also some qtz; very minor amphiboles. The level of alteration and genereal pervasiveness/wispyness/irregularity of carbonate veinlets is very notably highter here than in 1c units around it. Bedding not developed well VN WMB S B M / 2/SH R / / / / / po along with carbonate infiltration in shear lines SHR sheared in general, carbonate veinlets infiltrating in a variety of directions of cracks, any bedding/banding is very messed up looking c Interbedded greywacke; siltstone; mu 13GS interbedded massive grey greywacke and siltstone/mudstone, with caronate sheeted veinlets, and veinlets along shears, but mostly sheeted, doesn't look nearly as messed up as IF before and after. Chlorite alteration patches B MS possible sif beds? 13GS BD BD BD Mar-13 3:02:16 PM Page 5 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length d Silicate iron formation 13GS da? Py mineralization at least 2%. Altered silicate iron formation mostly chlorite and actionlite (green amphibole), includes mud/1c sub unit, garnets come in at 33.5m. The entire unit has an aged look to it, it looks washed out and altered. Carbonate alteration, qtz veinlets with carbonate alt (all white) infiltrating along shear lines, core texture is generally vuggy, specks of hematite. Vugs are in qtz veinlets as well as in the actual rock mass, they are kind of euhedreal and pock the surface of the core especially in the green area past 33.5m and look like might have been I don't know what. Tiny garnets? Or some sort of sulfide? Or magnetitie? But in that case why not altered to silicate? Maybe a different fluid? VN M B S B W B MS B WM F W hem specks all along area past 33.5m, assoc with vugs in tiny qtz veinlets (no carbonate unlike rest of hole so far, but possible that ankerite is around a bit? Ju no fizzy carbonate). Garnet also only appears past 33.5m and is also in the sa / 2/DIS / / / / / po blebs in chlor /amph IF bed, look like mostly assoc with shearing /SH R / / / / / / with white qtz tiny tiny veinlets in cracks infiltrating UC BD UC 24 13GS c mostly 3c mudstone Interbedded greywacke; siltstone; mudsto 16-Mar-13 3:02:16 PM Page 6 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length c Interbedded greywacke; siltstone; mu 13GS interbedded siltstone mudstone wacke. Very few sheeted veinlets in line with beddng/ one perpendicular to bedding. 13GS GS BD d Silicate iron formation 13GS altered chloritic muddy 2d with pyrrhotite and pyrite mineralization (po more throughout, interstitial, small strings etc, py more obviously assoc with shears and white qtz veinlets, gob at 38.6m. Chlorititc beds with some type of porphroblast being altered away to a paler mineral, looks like splotchy blobs. Possibliy sericite alteration, but also kind of chalky so maybe some clays involved? VN M P S PCH W B MS pervasive chlorite and some type of amphibole (possibly other) porphroblast altering to sericite and/or clay. White qtz veinlets as well as a few darker ones. Lo like some remnants of garnets are still present as porphroblasts being altered a Very /V LT 1.5/S HR / / / / / py glob ~1cm long in wwhite qtz veinlet in shr 38.6m SHR whole section has minor/moderate shearing. Lots of little cracks that aren't totally obvious, probably fluid pathway for all the alteration going on BD BD 14 very close to previous BD measurement, probably has to do with shearing also see here Qtz a few white qtz veinlets assoc with pyrite/pyrrhotite 13GS GS Mar-13 3:02:16 PM Page 7 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length mienralization and look like related to shearing/ cracks infiltrating c Interbedded greywacke; siltstone; mu 13GS interbedded massive wacke and mudstone with foliation and siltstone and inbetweenstone. Long intervals of dominantly one or the other sometimes, but overall don't feel confident calling long itervals of this only mudstone. Hard to separate them out. Really more of a siltstone a lot of the time. Scattered areas of bedded pyrrhotite, one section with some subunits with chert beds and chloritic alteraiton that could charitably be called siliate iron formation near po mineralizaiton in the 1c around 52m. Foliated mudstone units are extremely common to 68m and then from 82m onwards. More massive ones not in that section. Youinging diretion likely down hole / 1/BED / / / / / scattered bedde dpo /VLT 1/BED / / / / / / 2.5/S / / / / / po along thin windy irregular vuggy HR cracks with small ammts of qtz / 1/BED / / / / / / 2.5/B ED / / / / / in muddy wacke BD FOL 41 in mudstone beds BD FOL 56 in mudstone beds FOL BD FD 23 fold in foliation-crenulation axis? 9 (m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length YD FOL BD F fractured rock, angular; there are a few sections in and around this one that are a bit broken up but this one looks less drill-induced than others BD 20 also cleavage CL 20 bedding parallel Qtz thin white qtz veinltes, bedding parallel, often wavy etc along with foliated mud Qtz 1cm veinlet From To c Massive mudstone; argillite From To da Sulfide bearing silicate iron formation chert beds in line with overall unti bedding, with chloritic alteration in bands and po mineratlization, dark qtz (?) veinlets, alll in line, po looks like along shears. Some vuggy qtz veinlets, lots of vugs in general texture of unit, just like in last 2d unit logged. From To d Silicate iron formation chert beds with wide fold nose visible From To Gabbro gabbro dyke with chill margins. Fine-grained, brownish. 16-Mar-13 3:02:16 PM Page 9 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length From To a Phyllitic mudstone mostly 3a rather than wacke-heavy mixture a Phyllitic mudstone section of long sediment successiont that is dominantly shiny foliated grey mudstone. Has some small qtz veinlets, usually along bedding, folded/etc with shearing and whatever created foliation (axes usually in line with another orientation measurement. Some scattered chlor/bio-rich laminae around tiny cherty beds scattered (i.e m, 82.4m-82.55m). Looks like some sections have tiny tiny plag laths in mudstone VN W B W chlor very very very weak, only in a few a with increased amts of qtz veinlet beddin /DI S 0.2/DI S / / / / / dis pyrrhotite usually with tiny qtz veinlets along bedding. Pyrtie ccurs in same manner but much less common BD FOL FOL FD 76 axis of tiny folds in qtz laminae/beds FOL BD BD FOL FOL Qtz // to bedding, usually, sometimes at different angles. Look very wavy from same events that generate foliations in mudstone. 16-Mar-13 3:02:17 PM Page 10 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length Carb/Qtz one pinkish carbonate w/ a bit of qtz veinlet. Also cleavage c Interbedded greywacke; siltstone; mu interbedded wacke and mudstone, some silstone, etc.like previous. Some minor mineralization assoc with bedding in mudstone layers. Younging direction is downhole. Some mud layers have tiny white plag laths / 0.2/DI S / / / / / minor mineralization associated with minor shears but most often just with bedding and along foliations, thin qtz veinlets etc BD YD2 a bit higher confidence than last younging measurement. Graded bedding as well as flame structure YD BD BD BD FOL 60 in phylliic mudstone bed BX 61 bx host rock in pinkish qtz-carbonate matrix F fractured rock, looks like maybe another veinlet along fracture at one point? Very fragmental, but doesn't necessarily look faulted SHR 35 along bedding, looks like maybe some pseudo brecciation, pulled looking texture, possible minor silicification BD YD3 flame structures between mud beds and wacke Qtz mostly parallel bedding, mostly with mudstone, possible used to be chert layers? 16-Mar-13 3:02:17 PM Page 11 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length a Phyllitic mudstone phyllitic mudstone, foliated, at least two dominant foliations. Lots of little squiggly white qtz veinlets along bedding. Pyrrhotite common in small blebs throuhgout most of section, looks like sulfide was probably incorporated in original mudstone bedding and possibliy remobilized by the same event causing all the foliations in the mudstone. Very minor trace specks of chalcopyrite spotted intergrown with po blebs from 114m-117m / 1/DIS / 0.01/ DIS / / / cpy only intergrown with po blebs from m UC 28 bedding BX looks like some bx pieces in windy qtz veinlet? This whole area is quite messy looking SHR 34 ductile mud bed shears pulling along shear lines. Faint FOL 14 foliation, but looks like is bedding parallel. But can't see bedding in this unit FOL 60 second foliation, higher angle alpha, just like in other mudstones in hole FOL 31 also bedding it looks like FOL FLT 32 fault with gouge, grey and muddy, basically beding parallel G see above BD Qtz mostly bedding parallel but a lot fo them in this unit are just very messy and wavy. Like other phyllitic mudstones Qtz massive qtz, a little bit of very minor chloritic sediment on edge. No mineralizaiton. 16-Mar-13 3:02:17 PM Page 12 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length c Interbedded greywacke; siltstone; mu massive grey lithic wacke interbedded with mudstone. Some massive argillite, but more often a phyllitic variety with foliations and characteristics silmialr to other ones in the hole. Very few mudstones to 149m, 149m-153m is 1c with 70% mudstone but very interbedded m has more mudstone as well as some shearing with white carbonate/qtz infill and a small section of pseudo brecciation at 152.5m / 0.5/DI S / / / / / po dissem through section usually in blebs along bedding or very minor shears/qtz veinlets in mudstone unit. Usually confined to mudstone interbeds. Looks like possibly rembilized from foliation event? Diagenesis? UC 24 along bedding BD BD BD BD SHR mudstone with thin cracks filled with carboante/qtz, some speudobrecciation SHR 50 shear along thin white line, can see clear difference in bedding angles before and after BD BD BX 23 pseudo bx with carbonate veinlet infill parallel bedding BD BD CL 27 Probably bedding //. Dominant cleavage diretion in this area ( ) when nt just rubble F rock is more fractured/fragmental than usually BD 38 approximate Qtz/Carb two small veinlets, mostly dark colored qtz, but with ~30% white fizzy carbonate. No alteration or mineralization surrounding. 16-Mar-13 3:02:17 PM Page 13 of 14
(m) (m) Lithology Sample # Length Carb/Qtz thin crack veinlets look like associated with shearing, somem pseudobrecciaiton. Some 100% carbonate, others less so. 16-Mar-13 3:02:17 PM Page 14 of 14
