Sincerely, Wang Qian
2 Proposal for a Commission on Location-based Services The Commission on Location-based Services will: 1. Promote research on Location-based Services (LBS) in all its interdisciplinary aspects. 2. Define short and medium term research goals that address major challenges associated with LBS, such as positioning, modelling, communicating context-based geoinformation preferably through maps, privacy and social issues, with the aim to facilitate users daily activities and decision-making in space. 3. Organise ICC sessions, workshops and international conferences on LBS for colleagues from various disciplines to meet, interact and exchange knowledge, experience, plans and ideas on how LBS can and could be improved and on how it will influence both science and society. 4. Publish LBS-related reports, books and special issues within scientific journals. 5. Maintain a commission website and update it regularly to allow commission members to exchange information, as well as to disseminate information on activities in this field to a wider public. 6. Foster interdisciplinary and international collaboration with cognate disciplines and relevant stakeholders, including other ICA commissions and working groups, and other allied research communities (e.g., ISPRS, FIG, IAG). Chair Dr. Haosheng Huang, Vienna University of Technology, Austria, haosheng.huang@tuwien.ac.at Vice-Chair Prof. Dr. Jukka M. Krisp, University of Augsburg, Germany
3 Haosheng Huang's short CV B.S. in Computer Science (South China Normal University, China, 2004), M.S. in Computer Science (South China Normal University, China, 2006), Ph.D. in Geoinformation and Cartography (TU Vienna, with Distinction/Honors, 2013) Research Assistant, South China Normal University; Research Assistant, Research Group Cartography, TU Vienna; Since 2013, University Assistant, TU Vienna. Haosheng's research focuses on location-based services (LBS), i.e., the use of geospatial information in facilitating people's daily activities and decision-making in space. He is also involved in many research projects using mobile crowdsourcing, sensor data, and social media data to model people s spatial experiences, behaviors and subjective well-being in different environments. Haosheng Huang has published more than 25 peer-reviewed papers in high-impact journals (including IJGIS, CaGIS Journal and JLBS), books, and international conferences, and edited 5 conference/workshop proceedings and journal special issues. He also received many personal awards and scholarships for his research. Haosheng Huang's detailed CV can be found at:
