Pupils are required to write the text, (i.e. it can be a formal /informal letter or a report), based on what has been covered in class, to suit the purpose, audience and context. Paper 1 Section C: Pupils choose one out of four topics to write a text of 200 to 300 words in continuous prose. The topics set may cover different types of texts, i.e. it can be a Recount, Narrative, Expository or Information text, based on what has been covered in class. Language proficiency will be evaluated. Application of accumulative knowledge of language use, grammar and vocabulary, as well as reading and writing skills, is required. Paper 2: Question types: Literal, Inferential, Quotation, Vocabulary, Own Words, How language achieves impact, Evaluative and Summary questions based on the visual text and the reading comprehension passages.

In addition to the context, candidates are to make use of the information provided in an informational text, (i.e. it can be a brochure, an advertisement or a notice, based on what has been covered in class), to complete the task. Part 2 Pupils write a functional piece of about 70 words, i.e. it can be a letter of application, a note of excuse or an eye-witness account, based on what has been covered in class, in response to the context provided in Part 1. Section B: Guided Writing Pupils write a text of at least 180 words based on a given context which involves viewing a stimulus text. Pupils are required to write the text, i.e. it can be a journal entry, a personal letter or an explanation, based on what has been covered in class, to suit the purpose, audience and context. Paper 2 Language Use and Comprehension Section A: Language Use Part 1 -- Pupils indicate whether each of the underlined words is incorrect or redundant in a text of about 150 words. For incorrect words, pupils provide the correct ones in the spaces provided. Part 2 Pupils select their responses from given Language proficiency will be evaluated. Application of accumulative knowledge of language use, grammar and vocabulary, as well as reading and writing skills, is required.

Paper 3 Listening Pupils listen to a variety of spoken texts and complete a set of listening tasks comprising multiple-choice questions, matching and ordering. Spoken texts, such as conversations, speeches, announcements, reports and presentations of informational texts, may be included.

Chapter 17 Effects of Heat & its Transmission Describe some effects and applications of expansion and contraction in everyday life e.g. liquid in flasks, hanging cables, gaps in railway tracks etc. Exclude bimetallic strip and its application, and anomaly of water Explain what is meant by conduction, convection and radiation Identify and explain applications of conduction and convection Exclude why metals are better conductors than non-metals, exclude land and sea breeze.
