4 Year 9 English Revision Guide Students will be asked to read and annotate an extract from an unseen short story. They will then be asked to write an essay analysing the presentation of setting in the extract. Students will be assessed on their: Understanding of the text; Ability to select evidence from the text and use quotations in the essay; Understanding of how the text is designed to affect the reader; Analysis of language (vocabulary, sentence types/lengths/structures, punctuation, figurative devices) and structure. 5 Year 9 Geography Revision Guide In the Year 9 exam we will be asking students a range of questions from multiple choice 1 markers and 3-9 mark questions. The paper will be based on the style of the GCSE with questions increasing in value. The focus will be on map skills along with volcano formation and effects, patterns of global crime and its effects. All students will be given additional information on revision techniques and where information can be found within their books as well as a revision PowerPoint..
6 Year 9 History Revision Guide In the Year 9 exam we will be asking students three different questions - which aim to assess three key skills within History. The paper will be based on the style of the GCSE with questions increasing in value. The focus will be on the Evacuation period during World War Two, focusing on how the students can analyse sources and interpretations, both of these questions are worth 8 marks each. The final question worth 16 marks will be assessing how students formulate and develop their explanations and judgements, focusing upon the impact that evacuation had on all children involved. Students will be given additional information in class, on revision techniques and where information can be found within their books.
7 Year 9 Languages Revision Guide Year 9 French and German Test Friday 28 th April Tests will be 1 hour in length and will be in the hall. Section 1: Reading Comprehension (50 marks) 6 multiple choice tasks based on topics learnt in year 9. Section 2: Writing and Translation (50 marks) Task A translation of 4 sentences from English into the target language (15 marks) Task B open ended writing task based on any of the topics from year 9 (35 marks) Remember successful written work will: Be well-organised into logical paragraphs Include connectives, time phrases and sequencers Include different tenses present and past and/or future Use a variety of structures Give relevant detail, opinions and justifications.
