1 Analele Ştiinţifice ale Universităţii Al. I. Cuza Iaşi s. II a. Biologie vegetală, 2012, 58, 1: ISSN: , E-ISSN: NEW CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STUDY OF AQUATIC AND PALUDAL FLORA FROM RIVER MORIŞCA (BOTOŞANI COUNTY) Corneliu TĂNASE 1* Abstract: This paper contains preliminary results obtained in the period , materialized in floristic list, and analysis of aquatic and paludal flora in the territory Morişca Valley on the river Morişca. The floristic list (aquatic and paludal plants) contains species of plants that were not cited in these locations from hydrographic basin Morişca Valley. We recorded 265 species of vascular plants and analyzed their taxonomy and composition of floristic elements and ecological indeces. Keyworks: aquatic and paludal plants, Morişca Valley. Introduction Morişca Valley is located in the Botoşani County in northeast Plain Moldavia, with an area of 224 square kilometers. It is characterized by the general orientation of the valleys to the north-west to south-east, with frequent asymmetry due to geological structure. The frequency of categories of altitude shows that most hills have heights ranging from 140 to 200 m. The most common soils are chernozem category in various stages of evolution (Băcăuanu, 1968). Hydrographic network for Morişca Valley is characterized by the presence of a chain of ponds met along the river Morişca (Pantazică, 1974). Morişca Valley has its origin in the forest Crow, near Dorohoi. It can be considered a stream with permanent flow regime mainly due to the leakage from fish ponds: Lipovanul and Iazul Mare of Brăieşti, Staruşte and Jianu of Roma, Iazul Domnesc (Melik) and Ghidu, fish nursery, Pârlogeanu ponds and Popăuţi of Costeşti and Stăuceni ponds (Tănase and Ştefan, 2010). The region is located in an area with excessive temperate - continental. The annual average precipitation is mm, prevailing winds are from north east (Uliciuc, 2004). From the above data result that Morişca Valley is located in an area with excessive continental climate, characterized by large temperature variations, while unevenly distributed rainfall and torrential character, violent winds accompanied by blizzards in winter season and prolonged droughts in summer (Tănase and Ştefan, 2010). Materials and methods The identification and taxonomical classification of the vascular plants were accomplished using a series of guides (Ciocârlan, 2000; Chifu et al. 2006). The floristic list presents the species alphabetically sorted after family, author, the subspecies where it exists and location. The following abbreviations were used in naming the villages where the recorded plant species were found: Dealul Mare DM, Văculeşti Vac., Brăieşti Bra., Cotârgaci Cot., Roma Rom., Nicşeni Nic., Costeşti Cos., Roşiori Ros., Stăuceni 1* Al. 2 Sta., Victoria Vic. The phytogeographical category of each species was indicated according to the most recent monograph of Moldavian flora and vegetation (Chifu et al., 2006). The establishment of the bioforms and floristic elements was made on the basis of both Flora ilustrată a României. Pteridophyta et Spermatophyta, by Ciocârlan (2000), and the synthesis worked out by Sanda et al. (1983), Popescu and Sanda (1998), Sanda, Biţă- Nicolae, Barabaş (2003). The proportion of each category was presented as a spectrum. Results and discussions The floristic list includes the following species: Fam. 5 The above list contains a number of 265 species of angiospermous, dicotyledonous and monocotyledonous. These species belong to 50 families and 136 genera. The dominant families on the Morişca Valley are these: Asteraceae; Chenopodiaceae; Fabaceae; Lamiaceae; Polygonaceae; Cyperaceae; Juncaceae; Poaceae. Life forms. Concerning the life forms, the most numerous species are hemicryptophytes (H %), the next being the helohydatophytes (HH 8. 48%), a normal situation for a meadow where perennial and biennial herbaceous plants prevail. There is a certain number of annual therophytes plants (Th %) and biannual plants (TH 2. 47%), the next being the geophytes (G 11. 3%). Also, the phanerophytes (Ph 2. 47%) and the chamaephytes (Ch 1. 06%) are in small number (Fig. 1). Phytogeographical elements. Concerning the phytogeographical elements (Fig. 2), the most numerous species are, normally, eurasian (Eua %). Also, a high percentage was recorded for circumpolar and cosmopolitan elements (Circ %; Cosm %). Then follow elements: european (Eur %), adventive (Adv 2. 8%), pontic-mediterranean (Pont. medit %), eurasian-mediterranean (Eua. medit. - 0,7%), submediterranean (Submedit %), balcanic-panonic (Balc. pan. 0. 7%), continentall (Cont. - 0,35%). Regarding the preferences of the species for temperature (T) (Fig. 3), the best represented are the mesothermophytic (T %), followed by the amphytolerant species (T %) and the subthermophytic species (T4 9. 6%), microthermophytic species (T %) and criophylle species with T %. Thermophytic categories not are represented. This distribution is largely dependent on the altitude and latitude of the different phytocoenoses, but also on the exposure of the field, all these being decisive factors in the thermic final assessment specific to every station, one of the main elements when it comes to the spreading of the vegetal species. With regard to the preferences of the species for soil humidity (U) (Fig. 4), best represented are the mesophytes (U %), which prefer humid soils, followed by the mesohydrophytes species (U %), hydrophytes species (U %), ultrahydrophytes species (U %), mesoxerophytes (U %) and amphytolerant species with U %. Regarding the tolerance of the species to the soil reaction (R) (Fig. 5), the amphitolerant species hold the majority (R %), followed by the species which prefer acidophil - neutral soils (R %) and acidophil soils with R %. And the species from the category which marks the transition to the basic soils (R %). There are also 6 extreme-acidophil species (R %). Figure 1. Life forms spectrum Figure 2. Phytogeographical elements spectrum 77

Ecological spectrum depending on the soil reaction Conclusions - The most numerous species are hemicryptophytes; - Concerning the phytogeographical elements the most numerous species are, normally, eurasian; - Regarding the preferences of the species for temperature (T) the best represented are the mesothermophytic; - With regard to the preferences of the species for soil humidity (U) best represented are the mesophytes; - Regarding the tolerance of the species to the soil reaction (R) the amphitolerant species hold the majority.
