. Page 1 Introduction This report includes the results of a preliminary geological mapping and prospecting programme for opal on the Wood 1-12 mineral claims over an 8 day period during late September and early October The claims are situated in close proximity to the recent discovery of rare precious opal located 10 kilometres to the southeast on the KlinkerIEwer mineral claims. The Wood claims were staked on ground noted for occurrences of agate and common opal float located along the Salmon River and hosted in volcanic rocks. The Wood claims are underlain by a basal sequence of opal bearing clast and matrix supported lahars and sediments of the Eocene Kamloops Group which are similar to those that host precious opal recently discovered on the Klinker/Ewer claims to the south and east. An initial programme of exploration targeted those areas in which common opal and agate have been known to occur in volcanic rocks along the Salmon River and in the vicinity of Cain Creek. Vesicle infillings on the Wood claims are most commonly agate and zeolites. No coloured and/or precious opal was discovered in place. Minor common opal was found as float along Cain Creek. Fracture fillings of calcite and manganese oxides were also noted as well as pectolite associated with calcite in vesicles suggesting the possibility of mineralogical controls for silica emplacement in these basinal sequences. Andesiticibasaltic dykes on the Wood claims possibly predate and post date the lahar flows. A programme of further prospecting and geological mapping is recommended over the rest of the property in order to fully understand and determine those areas on the Wood claims that are most favourable for precious opal formation. A programme of sampling and subsequent overburden removal, if necessary, is recommended if significant opal is discovered in place. Location and Access: The Wood property is located some 39 kilometres west-north-west of the City of Vernon, British Columbia and is situated over Cain Creek and Woods Lake. Woods Lake drains south into Cain Creek which in turn flows westerly into the Salmon River approximately 12 kms. south of the community of Westwold, B.C.. The property is accessible via the lngram Main and Jimmy Lake forestry access roads off Highway 97 N some 13 kilometres west of Falkland B.C. via Hwy. 97. The L.C.P. for the Wood 1 and 2 claims is located approximately 30 metres south of Woods Lake which is accessed by road to the north off the powerline after turning onto the powerline at approximately 16 km. on the Jimmy Main logging access road which commences near the 11 km. mark on the lngram Main logging access road. The claims are located in the Kamloops Mining Division - on map N.T.S. 82U05E.

Page 2 The property is presently accessible via two wheel drive during the period from early June until October. Snow cover often commences in mid to late October and lasts until May. Physionraphv and Venetation: The central portion of the Wood claim is situated over the ridge forming the north flank of Cain Creek. The claim extends to cover the ground from Woods Lake on the east, to the Salmon River on the west and south to the powerline located on the south side of Cain Creek. The highest elevation on the property is just over 1300 metres which is situated in the central portion of the 46 unit claim block. The powerline crossing the southern portion of the property originates at the Mica Dam and comes cross-country from the north-east past Enderby, passing south of Pinaus Lake enroute to the upper Salmon River Valley and Douglas Lake area between Westwold and Merritt B.C. and then on to the B.C. lower mainland. This powerline is situated along the south flank of Cain Creeek and is situated some 500 to 600 metres south of the creek. The powerline right-of-way is clear cut for widths ranging from 80 to 120 metres. Few rock outcrops occur along the powerline right-ofway except near the towers and in the steep walled Cain Creek drainage and its tributaries. Cain Creek, which has cuts down through multi-layered volcanic rock units, forms a steep walled canyon inside the claim block. lngram Creek and the creek draining Woods Lake run into Cain Creek which effectively drains all of the area to the height of land just north and east of Jimmy Lake and the entire lngram Creek drainage. Much of the western portion of the property covers un-developed private property most of which has been recently clear-cut logged. The eastern half and northern portions are on crown land and have been selectively logged, probably prior to The crown land portions between Woods Lake west to the height of land has significant quantities of merchantable timber, mainly Douglas Fir with some Lodgepole Pine. Minor cedar balsam stands occur in low lying areas. Extensive steep rock cliffs and numerous other rock outcrops line both sides of Cain Creek.
. Page 3 Property Desc ri otion : The Wood property is comprised of two 18 unit four-post mineral claims and 10 one unit two post mineral claims. The L.C.P. for the Wood 1 and 2 claims is located some 30 metres south of Woods Lake. See also the claim map (Map #2) for further information. W. Yoke-Hardy. He holds the mineral titles in trust jointly for himself and Paul Downing; with each of these individuals owning a 50% interest in the titles. The expiry date shown herein reflects the recent application of work supported by the filing of this report describing the preliminary geological fieldwork conducted during the 1996 season. The claims are, with the exception of Wood 4, recorded in the Kamloops Mining Division of British Columbia. The initial post for Wood 4 is situated just inside the boundary of the Nicola Mining Division. The claims have been located in accordance with the requirements of the Mineral Act of the Province of British Columbia. Wood Property History: Common opal and agate has long been known to occur in volcanic rocks along the Salmon River. Rumor has it that colored and even precious opal has been found in the vicinity of Cain Creek. The Wood claims were located in late 1995 as a result of prospecting work conducted by R. W. Yorke-Hardy who noted occurrences of agate, white common opal float. Awareness of previous rumors regarding the possible occurrence of colored and/or precious opal attracted Yorke-Hardy to the area. The general proximity of these claims to the recently discovered precious opal deposit located on the KlinkedEwer property approximately 10 kilometres to the south-east and to reported occurrences of jelly opal on the Flash and Red Rock claims along the powerline approximately 7 to 8 kilometres to the north-east of the Ewer claims

. Page 4 combined with generally similar geology and the discovery of common opal were the reasons for staking these claims. Okanagan Opal Inc., the owners of the KlinkedEwer property which is presently under option to Canadian Northern Lites Inc.; also holds the Alpo claims which cover an extensive Miocene aged(?) lake basin environment hosting layers of bentonite clay, diatomaceous earth and minor opalized sediments interbedded with ryholite tuff ash beds. The Alpo claims are located approximately 13 kilometres to the east. Also, an occurrence of palagonite is recorded on the west flank of Tuktakamin Mtn. north of Pinaus Lake. This entire region was heavily staked during a staking rush in 1988 which occurred as a result of gold discovered by Huntington Resources on the Brett property located farther to the south, on Whiteman Creek. No other mineral exploration has been noted in the area except on the Way 1 mineral claim located west of the Klinker/Ewer property. It saw grassroots exploration for gold in and is being retained by Big I Development, a Vancouver based junior mining company, because of this property s potential to host BretVHuntington epithermal type gold mineralization in the underlying Eocene volcanics. Reaional Geology The Wood claims are underlain by an extensive basal sequence of crudely bedded clast and matrix supported lahars and ash to lapilli tuff units of the Eocene Kamloops Group. These basal sediments and waterlain volcanic rocks form a thick continuous basin that extends approximately 150 kilometres from Trepanier on the west side of Okanagan Lake to Kamloops. These opal bearing lahars and sediments are thought by Read 1995 to represent basal sequences of the Tranquille Formation that are overlain by tuffaceous sediments associated with rhyolite flows and tephra that may have generated the silica rich solutions for the formation of opal. It is believed by Read that exposures of metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks of the Nicola Group outcrop beneath the basil units of the Eocene along the Salmon River valley west of Falkland and may represent the oldest sequences of rocks exposed in the vicinity of the claims. Also, younging directions in sediments south and northwest of Falkland indicate that sedimentary rocks underlie the volcanic succession within the Nicola Group. Estekwalan and Tuktakamin mountains to the north and west of the Wood claims represent the highest peaks with exposures of volcanic rocks that have a minimum thickness of 600 metres.

. Page Geoloaical Mawing Mapping of portions of the Wood 1 and 2 mineral claims, using a Silva Ranger Compass and Topolite Belt Chain for control was carried out at a metric scale of over the common line between the Wood 1 and Wood 2 mineral claims to cover rock outcrops exposed on steep sided bluffs over looking the Salmon River and Douglas Lake Road. Any rock exposures along road cuts were plotted including the location of claim posts on a 1:15,000 Forestry Cover Map Sheet enlarged to a metric scale of 1:10,000 and to a scale of 1:5,000 for the geological interpretations. The geological mapping and prospecting was conducted by the writer. The preliminary exploration work during the 8 days of field work also included surveying and the subsequent clean-up of abandoned skid trails in order to, establish good vehicle access to rock exposures on steep sided bluffs that might host significant quantities of precious opal within the claim block. Propertv Geoloav Outcrop exposures on the Wood claims are mostly confined to steep bluff exposures in the central and northwest portions of the claim block. In addition, several outcrops were mapped on a skid trail in close proximity to the common boundary of the Wood 1 and 2 mineral claims on the west side of Woods Lake (see map 5). Four lithologies were recognized on the Wood claims and include matrix supported lahars, those that are essentially clast supported, mafic dykes or sills that are most noticeable in exposures of outcrop along Cain Creek to the west of the claim block and minor exposures of a pyroxene andesitic porphyry. Several outcrops that are exposed along a skid trail on the west side of Wood Lake include and are characterized by clast supported volcanic material. The subangular clasts average 5cm to 15cms and consist of grey to dark pink zeolitic, vesicular andesitic clasts with approximately 2 % dull black euhedral phenocrysts of pyroxene in the groundmass. Cavities appear ovoid to subspherical and range in size from 2mm to 1 centimetre. Their linings are sealed and part infilled with a yellow, brown crystalline zeolite. The rest of the cavities are filled with a white radial fan shaped zeolite. Fractures within the clasts are partly infilled with crystalline aggregates of white to grey transparent euhedral crystals of possible analcime and appear altered to a yellow brown coating with blebs of pyrolusite. Other clasts in this same outcrop are light grey, tan in colour and comprised of approximately 80% vesicles up to 5mm in a groundmass consisting of 5% feldspars altered to a white powdery dendritic zeolite and 1 % black, dull, anhedral pyroxene phenocrysts altered to minor iron stained clays. Cavity linings are sealed with a yellow, brown sugary zeolite and are covered with a white botryoidal coating. Other cavities up
. Page 6 to 1 cm are partly infilled with grey white aggregates of transparent stubby prismatic euhedral crystals which may possibly be analcime. No opal or agate infillings were seen. An outcrop exposure 100 metres to the south of the 3W 3N ID post along the common boundary line of the Wood 1 and 2 mineral claim consists of a fine grained, light brown, weathered possible pyroxene andesitic porphyry with fine grained vesicles lined with zeolite crystals. Outcrop exposures along steep bluffs located approximately 250 metres west of the 3W 2N ID post for the Wood 1 and 2 include a northwest trending series of debris flows cut by mostly basaltic sills or dykes. The debris flows consist of both coarse matrix and clast supported lahars. They are characterized by the absence of well stratified beds or lenses of ash to lapilli tuff matrix material and appear differentially weathered and oxidized in exposures along cliff faces. White zeolites appear to be the most common vesicle infilling associated with the more oxidized purple red lahars. The matrix supported volcanics contain sub-angular to sub-rounded clasts up to 50 cms and include grey to purple and light brown porphyritic andesitic clasts with 1 YO pyroxene phenocrysts and up to 2% golden brown flecks of biotite in a fresher aphanitic groundmass. Approximately 60% of the clasts are light brown altered andesites containing 40% zeolitized altered feldspars. The clasts are supported in a coarse grained sandy yellow volcanic tuff matrix. The clast supported lahars contain sandy brown vesicular and scoriaceous clasts up to 60 centimetres and appear more andesitic than basaltic in composition. Other clasts are sub-rounded to angular and are mostly a grey, brown, sandy fine grained, volcanic tuff. The cavities are lined with a white botryoidal zeolite coating and partly infilled with a grey translucent crystalline zeolite. Euhedral calcite also occurs as a cavity filling in fractures and vesicles associated with rare pectolite infilling between clasts. Only very minor agate infills vesicles and no opal was found. The lahars are locally overlain and appear to be draped over massive and scoriaceous basaltic flows both which, may crosscut, or run sub-parallel to the margins of the lahars. Contacts are irregular and discontinuous over short distances due to the undulating surfaces of the lahars. The basaltidandesitic flows are very pronounced and exposed in vertical cliffs that straddle Cain Creek to the west of the claim block on the Wood 12 mineral claim. Rock exposures on the south and north side walls of the canyon are characterized by a succession of flat lying sill and dyke- like flows that are interlayered between north striking clast supported and matrix supported lahars. The mafic flows appear to pinch and swell laterally and vertically. Scoria with stretched cavities along the canyon walls are predominantly lined with a green-blue, earthy coating of celedonite and infilled with grey agate. Other cavities are partly infilled with fibrous, white, soft, chalky altered zeolite.
. Page 7 Conclusions and Recommendations. Agate and white zeolite vesicle infillings are widespread on the Wood Claims in both Cain Creek and steep sided bluffs overlooking the Salmon River and Douglas Lake Road in the western portion of the claim block. Very minor common opal was seen in float samples along Cain Creek. Other fracture fillings include calcite and minor manganese oxides. It is interesting to note that pectolite associated with calcite and zeolites was only found infilling lahars that outcrop to the west of the 3W 3N claim post on steep sided bluffs at the 1400 metre elevation suggesting that there are mineralogical controls for silica emplacement. Also, some dykes on the Wood claims that contain agate possibly post date lahars. The Tertiary lahars on the Wood claims appear to be located in, or very close to the margins of an extensive basal unit of the Eocene, that is comprised of opal bearing waterlain sediments and lahars. Additional prospecting and geological mapping is recommended to identify separate flows which may help to locate any precious opal that may be hosted in these volcanic sequences.
