States continue to collaborate with respective MDAs and Local Government Authorities (LGAs) to deliver activities and ensure sustainability of the project. NEWMAP is currently working in the seven Tier 1 States (Anambra, Abia, Cross River, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, and Imo), plus an additional twelve Tier 2 States (Akwa Ibom, Delta, Gombe, Kano, Kogi, Plateau, Sokoto, Borno, Katsina, Nasarawa, Niger, and Oyo). Additional Financing of USD 400 million (USD 300 million from IDA 18 and USD 100 million from IDA 18 Scale-up Facility) was approved by the World Bank's Board of Executive Directors on June 27th, The Additional Financing will support 11/19/2018 Page 1 of 9

2 scaling up of highly successful gully restoration and watershed management activities, and add new activities that have emerged, based on implementation experience, global commitments, and country initiatives. Significant achievements have occurred since the last review period: 1. The federal government recently paid USD 984, 000 (N 300, 000,000) for counterpart funds. The 19 project States have been making ongoing payments. Modest gaps in counterpart funds exist however, with Imo, Enugu and Plateau States. 2. NEWMAP has recorded continued progress in the completion of the 21 initial intervention sites with over 1,408.8 hectares of degraded land recovered. Average physical progress across all sites stands at 86%. 3. Fourteen watershed management plans have been developed under the project for targeted erosion-affected sub-watersheds in Cross- River (5), Anambra (4) and Abia (5). Three of the plans are currently being implemented in Cross-River State. 4. It was anticipated that sub-watersheds in 30 targeted gully complexes and other erosion sites would be treated with at least 75% of planned measures. The project has exceeded this target as over 55 engineering designs now having bio-engineering and are under implementation. 5. Grants for Income Generating Activities (IGA) have been disbursed to 5,159 members of communities; beneficiaries are now engaged in businesses such as livestock farming, honey production, trading (small shops), horticulture, etc. Currently, about 9,318 households are benefiting from livelihood enhancement activities. To date, 2,131 Project Affected People (PAPs) in gully areas have been compensated with USD 4,272, (N1,553,134, ). 6. Nineteen meteorological stations and 15 Hydro-Met Stations have been installed in targeted sites. Twenty-five staff have been trained n the installation, operation, and maintenance of the meteorological stations, and six early warning systems. 7. The Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF) supports the effective management of storm water linked to gully erosion. To this end, draft Storm Water Master Plans have been developed for Abia, Anambra and Ebonyi States. 8. The project supported the highly successful issuance of the Africa s first Sovereign Green Bonds. A second phase of the Sovereign Green Bonds will soon commence. 9. South-South Learning and Knowledge Sharing for watershed management, infrastructure and agriculture between China, India and Nigeria, is financed by the China-World Bank Trust Fund have achieved some results and at the moment, a study tour to China on Climate Smart Agriculture from June 18th to June 30th, 2018 with twenty-five (25) project staff and decision makers from both NEWMAP and FADAMA. The PDO indicator which refers to the "vegetation cover in treated sub water sheds in percentage" was dropped during the preparation of the AF because the end target was exceeded. This indicator was replaced by two indicators. including a corporate indicator: (i) area under bioremediation in targeted sub-watersheds (Hectare); and (ii) land area under sustainable landscape management practices (Hectare). The sustainable landscape management practices is a corporate indicator. As a result of the geospatial studies and analysis in States, improved erosion risk mapping exist in 10 tier 1 and 2 States of Ebonyi, Anambra, Cross River, Enugu, Plateau, Kogi, Akwa Ibom, Sokoto, Kano and Delta. The South-South Learning and Knowledge Sharing for watershed management, infrastructure and agriculture between China, India and Nigeria, possibilities of setting up a central Geospatial Decision Support System for effective use at all levels are gradually being manifested as the country s space Agency, NASRDA moves to actualize an MoU with the Indian Space Agency on setting up a central Bhuvan a Spatial Knowledge 11/19/2018 Page 7 of 9
