2 Student s Corner Weather by Andrea in Mrs. Baumgarten s First Grade Class My favorite type of weather is snowy. When I go outside in the cold snow my tall big brother and I can have a snowball fight. I will make a huge snowball and throw it at my big brother, but I wish he won t throw a big snowball at me. My tall mom and I can make yummy hot cocoa for us. We can put big round white marshmallows in it. I can sit next to the hot fireplace and bundle up with a soft brown blanket so I won t get super cold. I look out the window. It still was snowing very badly. Then I went closer to the warm fireplace so I would not get colder. These are the reasons that snowy weather is my favorite type of weather.

3 Weather by Caden In Mrs. Baumgarten s First Grade Class My favorite type of weather is stormy. The yellow lightning flashes in the dark sky. There are lots of dark clouds in the stormy sky. There are lots of dark clouds in the stormy sky. The big raindrops fall out of the dark clouds. Stormy weather is the best type of weather.

4 Weather by Christian in Mrs. Baumgarten s first Grade Class My favorite type of weather is stormy. The lightning flashes yellow and white in the sky. The thunder crashes loudly and shakes buildings. The lightning can make smoke when it strikes trees. These are the reasons that stormy is my favorite type of weather.

5 1 st Annual Breakfast with Dad! What a success! Our First Annual Breakfast with Dad Event in the MPR had more than 400 dads and their children showing up to enjoy muffins, fruit, coffee or milk. This program was designed to give dads the opportunity to not only spend time with their children in a different setting, but also to give dads a chance to show how much they value their child s education. The dads and their children were given discussion starters as they entered. These discussions focused on the things that both the children and their dads liked. It was great to have so many dads here to help get their children off to a great start for the day. We are thankful to the PTA for making this event possible. A special thanks to Mrs. Cline, Mrs. Utrup, Mrs. Albright, Mrs. Mansour, and Mrs. Stout and all the volunteers for their hard work to make this event such a success. MONTE COIN RECESS coming soon! In order to encourage students to remember the 6 Pillars of Character and to practice them in their daily lives, we are beginning an additional incentive. Students who are caught going above & beyond in showing great character, will be nominated by their teacher or another staff member, to receive a Monte Coin. When a student receives this honor, he/she is recognized by a principal and awarded a coin to either keep or exchange for a special recess with Mr. Ortiz. If they want to participate in the recess, which is once per month, they must bring their coin out to the playground when the recess is announced. Thank you for continuing to encourage great character in your students!
