1 Earth Science: Second Quarter Grading Rubric Kindergarten of their senses Observation skills are used to note characteristics of our environment on a daily basis. The weather may be sunny one day and cloudy another day. Comparisons of daily weather observations include describing how each observation is similar to or different from a previous observation. 2 Change is something that happens to many things in the environment to include weather. Change can happen quickly or slowly. By observing daily weather changes, one can infer patterns that occur from season to season. Some weather patterns include sunny days, rainy days, windy or cloudy days, snowy days and stormy days. Weather patterns are associated with each season: winter, spring, summer, and fall (autumn). Seasons occur in a particular order and therefore the weather patterns associated with seasons occur in a particular order. 3 Earth Science: Second Quarter Grading Rubric Grade 1 (sun, moon, and stars) understanding Objects in the sky have patterns of movement. Students know the sun is a star that can only be seen in the daytime, but the moon can be seen sometimes at night and sometimes during the day. There are more stars in the sky than anyone can count, but they are not scattered evenly, and they are not all the same in brightness or color.
