Strong monsoon currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating in upper and central parts of the country & Kashmir, which are likely to continue during the next 24 to 36 hours. 6 North Waziristan Agency Displacement NDMA Updates as of NDMA Supports/Coordinates with FDMA/PDMA and Pak Army on issues of Displaced Persons So far, 37,757 Families have crossed over from North Waziristan Agency areas of military operations and have been registered. DPs Numbers Male 122,214 Female 147,060 Children 197,013 Total Individuals 466,287 So far only 34 families (243 Persons) have opted to stay at the Main DPs camp at Baka Khel (FR Bannu) located near Baran Dam. Relief Assistance Provided Planned Cash to 27,464 families has been distributed so far. Total UAE is sending 50,000 Food Packs (95 kg each) cash distributed by SAFRON: Rs million. 2,184 food packs distributed by Pakistan Army / UAE Food Govt. of Punjab announced Rs. 50 million Chief Minister s Packs). Relief Fund. 839 Food Packs by WFP were distributed. Prime Minister of Pakistan announced Rs 40,000 per family Total families which have received food assistance: 39,447 to DPs in the month of Ramadan 12,828 Non Food Item (NFI) distributed so far by NRC. 7 UNOCHA Updates as of Registration has re-opened for those families who could not register earlier for a variety of reasons. Grievance desks have been established to facilitate the families with documentation issues. As of 2 July, FDMA reported the registration of some 470,000 individuals. Verification of the registered families is ongoing. No further new displacements have been reported from NWA since the ground operation started. UNHCR reported an estimated 112,000 people from NWA in Khost and Paktika provinces of Afghanistan. The priority needs remain food, health, protection and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities. Urgent funding resources are needed to continue to scale up the humanitarian response. Diarrhoeal kits and medicines for primary health are needed. Meglumin antiminate are high in demand as well as dire need of TIG, Anti diphtheria serum and trauma kits for IDPs populations. MNCH services are provided by Women & Children Hospital Bannu and there is a need to strengthen this facility in terms of provision of supplies to ensure that MCH services are fully attended without any hindrance. Detailed assessment is required to identify urgent gaps in MNCH service delivery. The basic infrastructure of health facilities is poor which need immediate attention in terms of water and sanitation facilities, electricity, medicines, basic tools and equipment. Sanitation condition in the primary and middle schools (Schools and colleges are allocated for IDPs) are poor, Bathrooms/washrooms facilities are inadequate. Reproductive Health services need strengthening in terms of provision of medicines, medical supplies and trained human resources as well as training for the existing staff including LHVs, LHWs and midwife. Low EPI coverage is one of the serious issues which need immediate attention for undertaking vaccination along with awareness campaign in IDPs hosting areas. Mental and psycho social assistance as well as provision of LLINs, Permetherine and Tamiflu also required NGO partners need to expand and strengthen their capacity to address urgent needs in emergency health service delivery. 8 HANDS Emergency Response for IDPs of NWA Updates as of HANDS Pakistan has started its Emergency Response for the affected families of North Waziristan from its own resources. HANDS has got letter of collaboration from the Ministry of SAFRON. HANDS initiated health services through conduction of Mobile Medical Camps with the support of the District Government Bannu, KPK Government, Health department, FDMA, SAFRON secretariat and its local partner NGO Organization for Social and Economical Development (OSED). HANDS teams have planned health education sessions on Health & Hygiene in the IDP camps at Government College (Landhi Jahlandar) in District Bannu. The contribution will enable WFP to run its school feeding programme without a break in food supplies until December 2014, supporting more than 200,000 students in nearly 1,200 schools in six agencies of FATA. Part of the donation will also be used for nutrition activities. In addition, the funds will support the milling and fortification with micronutrients of 2,905 metric tons of wheat donated by the Government of Pakistan to WFP for its relief operation. A five-day anti-polio campaign was launched from June 24 to June 28 in 16 union councils (UCs) in and around Rawalpindi, with the aim to immunise IDPs coming into the city.
