How it Works Boiler The DewPoint 6210 generates steam which is injected into hay windrows. The ability to inject steam allows the farm operation to: Prevent leaf loss Make consistent hay Adjust moisture levels in hay Bale whenever hay is cured Have quicker harvest times Avoid rainstorms Bale when there is no dew Supply Water Tanks Generator Burner Fuel Tanks The DewPoint 6210 is powered by a 240v generator. The diesel burner heats water inside the boiler until boiling. Steam is transfered through hoses into custom manifolds mounted on the baler. The operator controls which manifolds are open and the rate at which steam is applied.
How the steam enters the hay Steam rate and distribution is controlled by the machine operator from the touch screen located in the tractor cab
Return on Investment Acres of Alfalfa $100/Ton of Alfalfa Payback Period (Years) $53, $97, $140,515 Yearly Net Increase After Payback Acres of Alfalfa $150/Ton of Alfalfa Payback Period (Years) $78, $147, $215,778 Yearly Net Increase After Payback Acres of Alfalfa $200/Ton of Alfalfa Payback Period (Years) $103, $197, $291,040 Yearly Net Increase After Payback Numbers based on 4 cuttings with a 6 ton per acre yearly total. Numbers account for a weight increase of 7%, a value increase of 5%, weather loss reduction of $10,000, and added growing days that add an extra.25 tons per acre. Numbers also account for an estimated $220,000 cost with an additional $2 dollar per ton operating cost.
Value Added University of Wisconsin study showed 58% reduction in leaf loss Leaf Retention More leaves = More weight = More crop value Average bale weight increases of 5-10% Consistent bales: each bale is the same top to bottom, start to finish Quality Hay Great leaf pattern with leaves still attached to the stems Square corners with smooth sides Increased feed value Bale hours per day Productivity Instead of 2-4 hours per day Harvest Time Faster harvest time = additional growing days per season which produces additional yield per acre each year Bale what your customers want Baled-to-Order If your customers like 11%, 12%, 13%, 14%, or 15% hay, you can make it consistently every time If there is rain in the forecast and your hay is cured, go bale no matter the hour Avoid Weather Breezy weather with no dew will not shut you down Save money by reducing weather exposure
Testimonials Our bale counts are the same. The bales are heavier so where is the yield really coming from? Well if you start looking on the ground there s not nearly as many leaves on [the ground]. -Ryan Schwebach I figure I ve picked up at least lbs a bale. I used to think when I first looked at it well it s all water weight but it s not. You look at the leaf in those bales and you understand exactly where it s coming from. - Jeff Wood Brandon Yardley s bales went from weighing 1,250-1,260 lbs to weighing 1,380-1,420 lbs when baled with steam. And all of that was leaf retention weight. It makes a sell-able product, it just makes something buyers like. - Brandon Yardley I can bale 500 acres of hay in 24 hours with one machine - Brent Hunter I had a 1,300 acre $35,000 job, and it was finished and paid out in 52 hours. -Ryan Schwebach Last year we would go out about 3 or 4am and we would bale until about 5 or 6am until the dew got too much. Now I ll go out [with the steamer] and start baling about 6pm until I get dewed out at about 6am the next morning. I get 12 hours now... compared to 2-3 hours. - Eric Webb We started cutting along with everyone else in the valley. We finished baling 2 weeks [before] everybody else. And so our 2nd cutting was baled and in the barn before guys even started cutting their 2nd cutting. Then 3rd cutting we gained a week. Then 4th cutting we gained a week. And then 5th cutting came around and people said 5th cutting... you re lying to us [and I said] just come look at the books -Ryan Schwebach We used to take about 7-8 days to bale all our hay. We ve crunched it down to about a 4 day thing. That s huge. - Alan Adams We put up all of his dry hay for him. He has really liked it. He likes the consistency. It just took a huge variable out of putting up hay. -Ben McIntyre I paid for the machine in one crop last year. In third crop I baled over 600 acres in around 30 hours. We were just stacking the last load of hay when it started raining. All my hay was put up and it rained for a week. -Perry Van Tassel If you ve got a storm coming and the hay is ready, you go to work. And then when everybody else is getting rained on hay you ve got yours in the barn. - Mike Adams
How many hours can you use your baler? Dry Climates In dry climates, DewPoint operators normally start baling in the late evening and bale through the night adjusting steam for the changing dew conditions. If necessary you can bale for 24 hours straight as long as conditions don t get too wet at night or too hot during the day causing internal bale temperatures to exceed 135 F AM PM Often too hot AM PM Not enough dew / moisture / often too hot Wet Climates In Wet Climates, DewPoint operators normally start baling in the morning as soon as the dew burns off and the hay is dry enough to start baling. Operators often bale through the rest of the day as long as the internal bale temperatures don t exceed 135 F. They often bale into the evening until the windrows become too saturated with dew AM PM Often too wet AM PM Often too wet Not enough dew / moisture

Equipment Needed Equipment Picture Function DewPoint 6210 Creates steam to be injected into the hay. Steam Hardware Attaches to the baler and allows the steam to be directly applied to the hay as it is being baled. Water Equipment Treats the water before entering the boiler. Ensures boiler longevity. Water quality is crucial to the life of the DewPoint machine. Water storage and transportation also need to be taken into account. Microwave Moisture Sensor Measures the moisture of the bales in real time so the operator can adjust steam rates accordingly
