For just the second time in SEC history, the SEC Coach of the Year, Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year have come from the same school. Third baseman Jonathan India was named the SEC Player of the Year while right-hander Brady Singer is the SEC Pitcher of the Year. India finished the regular season as the SEC leader in slugging (.730), on-base percentage (.506) and walks (45). He ranks third in the league in batting average (.365) and home runs (16). Singer led the SEC with 10 wins and a 2.25 ERA on the year. He finished second in the league in opponent batting average (.186) and seventh in strikeouts (92). This year s team reached 40 wins in just 51 games, the second fastest in program history behind only the 2016 team that started The Gators check in at No. 3 in the USA Today Coaches Poll this week. Florida has been ranked in 68-straight polls, the longest active streak in the nation. During the 68 weeks, UF has been ranked in the top five 44 times, including 20 polls in which the Gators ranked No. 1. Since taking over the Gators program prior to the 2008 season, head coach Kevin O Sullivan is (.644) in SEC play. LSU is second during that span with 198 wins. The power from the Gators is almost unprecedented. UF s 80 home runs are its most since hitting 83 in 2010 and its.481 slugging percentage is the highest since 2003 (.512). SINGER SHINING (SEC PITCHER OF THE YEAR) Junior BRADY SINGER has lived up to the preseason billing as a potential top MLB draft pick in As the Gators ace, he led the SEC with 10 wins, posted a career-best 2.25 earned run average (best in the SEC) and limited hitters to a.186 batting average against (second-best in SEC). Singer has pitched at least 7.0 innings in 10 of 13 starts this year. He has allowed more than three earned runs just once this season. Over his last five starts, Singer is 3-0 with a 1.22 ERA in 37.0 innings. He s gone at least seven innings in all five starts with a complete game shutout at Texas A&M. KOWAR CRUISING While his classmate holds down the front of the rotation, junior JACKSON KOWAR is making it equally tough for opponents. He has a team-best 11 quality starts (at least 6.0 IP with 3 ER or fewer) with a 3.01 ERA in 86.2 innings, limiting opponents to a.233 batting average against. INDIA S ALL-AMERICA SEASON (SEC PLAYER OF THE YEAR) Junior third baseman JONATHAN INDIA is having one of the best seasons ever for a UF player. He had a 24-game hitting streak earlier this year, tied for the third-longest in school history. In addition, India just the 12th player in program history with 20+ HR, 100+ RBI and 30+ steals in their career. He has a.311 career batting average with 26 HR, 114 RBI and 37 stolen bases. In the regular season, India finished third in the SEC in batting average (.365), first in slugging percentage (.730) and first in on-base percentage (.506). THE SCHWARZ RETURNS Senior captain JJ SCHWARZ has been the Gators hottest hitter over the past month. Since April 3, he has raised his average from.276 to.325 at the end of the regular season.. He ranks third on the team with 12 home runs and second with 46 RBI while serving as the Gators everyday catcher.
