Stevenson High School Course Description Division: Course Number: Course Title: Special Education/Mathematics MTH0N1/MTH0N2 Instructional Algebra Enriched Course Description: Algebra Enriched Students in this course will meet for two consecutive periods so that by the end of future mathematics courses. This course is designed to emphasize the development of skills, techniques and applications that deal with algebra, number relations, linear equations, formulas, polynomials, graphing, systems of equations, factoring, quadratic and exponential equations. Completion of this course prepares a student for further work in mathematics, usually in Geometry. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive two credits, one mathematics credit and one elective credit. In support of each student, the course will reflect the flexibility necessary to adapt to the individualized needs of each student with respect to modifications, pace, accommodations, and size. Content Objectives By the end of this course, students will be able to: A. Simplify and evaluate algebraic expressions. B. Identify and perform operations with real numbers. C. Find the solutions of linear equations in one variable. D. Write and graph equations of lines. E. Use multiple representations to describe and analyze mathematical situations. F. Identify functions. G. Rate of Change. H. Display & analyze data using appropriate statistical techniques. I. Solve and graph linear inequalities (in one and two variables) and solve absolute value equations. J. Solve systems of equations by graphing and algebraic methods. K. Simplify exponential expressions.

I will apply mathematical operations with signed numerical expressions. 2. I will evaluate expressions using order of operations. 3. I will use variables to represent unknown quantities. 4. I will use variables to create algebraic expressions that have practical meaning within the context of a situation.

I will determine if a relation is a function from a table, graph, mapping diagram, or ordered pairs F. Identify functions. 1. I will use function notation to evaluate a function for a given value. 2.
