1 UNIT 12: Forces in Fluids (8 days) Lesson Plans (Advanced and Regular Physical Science) Date Range: 12/1/14 12/9/14 Topic, Assignments, Agenda, Board Configurations Standard/ Homeroom: Announcements UNIT: Fluids 1. What is the relationship between fluid pressure and buoyant force? 2. How can you predict whether an object will sink or float in a liquid? 3. What role does density play in an object s ability to float? 4. How can the overall density of an object be changed? 5. Why is knowledge of fluids essential for efficient travel by ground, sea, and air? #: Investigate and describe types of forces including contact forces and forces acting at a distance, such as electrical, magnetic, and gravitational. 1. Students will be able to explain how forces in fluids (buoyancy, density, pressure) 2. Differentiate between Archimedes, Bernoulli s and Pascal s Principles. Objectives: Students should be able to: 1. Demonstrate knowledge of how forces in fluids 2. Explain how and why an object floats or sinks 3.
