Chinese New Year Money towards cake, décor, red envelopes, oranges, & gold coins. Bench - $ 2,000 each It was requested that the PAC donate towards the addition of one bench at the cost of $2,000. General discussion took place,, and the feeling was that this should be a facility expense and does not contribute to the education or well-being of the students. Proposed addition to playground This was a discussion that came out of the executive meeting after the web was removed due to safety concerns and code violations. The PAC felt that this item should be replaced as a warranty item, or that maybe the PAC can replace it. However, Christen s conversations with Alida confirmed that a playground extension will be years away, and will cost well over $100K, therefore, nothing further was added to the budget or discussed. Thank you for supporting an early dismissal day on September 17 th to allow our district staff system wide training. BC's new curriculum is mandated for implementation by September MJE is working at many levels to integrate the principles of this new framework and to build a culture of learning that reflects the thinking involved. Teachers are working through a Westside Learning Network across schools, as a staff and as grade level colleagues to plan. The Ministry is allowing 10 hours (2 full days) of time for teachers to prepare over the year ahead. The first day for our zone will be November 6 th an early dismissal for student and an afternoon of work for teachers. We'd like to take 15 minutes just to introduce you to a culture of thinking welcome to looking at teaching and learning through the lens of the competencies in our new curriculum:
