1 Advanced Placement Chemistry Ms McNemar When an old distinguished person speaks to you, listen to him carefully and with respect - but do not believe him. Never put your trust into anything but your own intellect. Your elder, no matter whether he has grey hair or has lost his hair, no matter whether he is a Nobel laureate - may be wrong. the world progresses, year by year, century by century, as the members of the younger generation find out what was wrong among the things that their elders said. So you must always be skeptical- always think for yourself Linus Pauling Texts Brown, Theodore L., H. Eugene LeMay, Bruce Edward Bursten, Catherine Murphy and Patrick Woodward. (2012). Section I: 60 multiple-choice questions, 90 minutes!! Section II: 7 free-response questions, 105 minutes The overall exam time will now be 3 hours, 15 minutes. Assessments: Labs: Labs will be worth 100 points for formal typed labs and 60 points for non formal labs Exams: will be worth 150 points and will occur on lab days. Since lab days may not coincide on our testing days for the quarter, a democratic vote will be taken as to which lab day that week the exam will be on. Tests will mirror the format of the AP Exam in May with 50% multiple choice and 50% free response. If a pattern of missing exams develops, a different exam format will be given. Quite possibly all multiple choice. POGIL (Process Oriented Group Inquiry Learning) : Each POGIL you will receive class participation points at a maximum of 10 points each. To receive the full 10 points you must actively participate in your group discussion and perform the role assigned to you. Points will not be deducted for wrong answers. A POGIL is a learning experience not an assessment. Cell Phone Policy: As per school policy, a teacher has the right to decide if cell phones are allowed in his or her classroom. At this point you are allowed under the following rules 1. During exams all cellphones must be on silent and placed at the corner of your desk face down. 2. During class time when others are talking and your attention is expected, no texting or cell phone use will occur. 3. During lab if you choose to take your cell phone in to use as a stop watch or a calculator, please be advised of chemicals present that can harm your phone..
