Blaserna, the first president of the Italian Physical Society, was appointed director in 1872 and in 1926 Enrico Fermi was called to hold the first Chair of Theoretical Physics Today... an intense research activity in all the major areas of Physics: Particle Physics, Physics of Matter, Astrophysics and Cosmology, Theoretical Physics, Biophysics, Geophysics Mathematical and Statistical Physics, and applied Physics : to Cultural Heritage, Medicine, Biotechnology, Material Science and Nanotechnology hos.ng research facili.es of the major Italian research ins.tu.ons, the Na.onal Ins.tute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), appoximately 300 researchers are ac+ve in our department, including the professors at the Sapienza University. 5/24/16 Research in applied physics Pagina 102
