3 Notes GEORGIA LEADING THE WAY IN NATIONAL TEAM STATS There is no denying that Georgia holds a well-rounded team, and it is evident where the team ranks in numerous team statistics. After Wednesday s games, the Bulldogs are first in the nation with a.369 batting average, as the Emanuel sisters are both in the top 20 nationally. Georgia is also in the top 15 with a.450 onbase percentage,.554 slugging percentage, 7.19 runs per game,.787 win-loss percentage and 2.07 ERA. CORTNI NAMED TOP 25 FINALIST FOR USA SOFTBALL POY AWARD After earning a spot as Top 10 Freshman of the Year last season, Cortni Emanuel was named a Top 25 Finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year, the organization announced Wednesday. A NFCA All-American last year, Emanuel is already placing her name in the Georgia record books. The sophomore is sixth in stolen bases, going 74-for-79 in her career, while earlier this season she broke the school record with a 23-game hitting streak. Emanuel is one of five sophomores named to the list while one of seven from the SEC. It s the sixth time in program history that a Bulldog has been among the top 25, as the prestigious honor is now in its 15th year of existence. Just prior to the start of postseason play, the list will be narrowed to the Top 10 Finalists on May 11. The Top 3 Finalists will be announced May 25, while the winner of the 2016 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be revealed on May 31 prior to the start of the NCAA WCWS in Oklahoma City. HUGO, WILKINSON SELECTED IN NPF DRAFT Georgia softball seniors Hugo and Wilkinson were selected in the 2016 National Pro Fastpitch Senior Draft on Thursday night. Hugo was the 10th pick of the night, selected by the Akron Racers, while Wilkinson was the 14th pick by the Pennsylvania Rebellion. Georgia has had 16 Bulldogs play professionally, as four former players were on active rosters last season, including Taylor Schlopy (Akron Racers), Megan Wiggins (USSSA Pride), Alisa Goler (Pennsylvania Rebellion) and Kristyn Sandberg (Pennsylvania Rebellion). Assistant coach Rachele Fico also plays in the NPF with the Racers. BROWNE CLOSING IN ON FIFTH IN ALL-TIME PUTOUTS Senior Katie Browne is closing in on the fifth spot in Georgia s career all-time putouts list, as after notching 15 in the series against Tennessee, she now holds 1,098. The Louisiana native is now 10 away from jumping Sandberg s 1,107. Browne also has an arm behind the plate, as she has caught four stealing so far this season. She now holds 25 in her career. SUMERLIN LEARNING TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS Still learning on the job, freshman Sumerlin is making adjustments as the game goes on, and it was evident in game three against Tennessee. After striking out three times against UT s pitcher Matty Moss in game one, Sumerlin bounced back to go 2-for-2 with a walk against Moss on Monday. The shortstop also had one run and a RBI in the game. The Alabama product went on to have a 2-for-2 night with a walk against Georgia State on Wednesday. GEORGIA MOVES TO NO. 19 IN NCAA RPI The NCAA released its fifth RPI of the year, as Georgia moves to No. 19 in the list. The Bulldogs have faced 18 teams in the top 100, holding a mark against them. Breaking that down, Georgia is 5-5 against the top 15, 10-8 vs. the top 25 and 12-9 against the top 50. Every SEC team is in the top 60 of the RPI while Georgia still has three opponents to face in the regular season, including No. 5 Auburn. HUGO, IOSEFA WITH PAIR OF HOME RUNS AT TECH Hugo and Iosefa each notched a pair of home runs in Georgia s 15-0 win at Tech. Closing out their time playing the rival, Hugo ended it with five home runs while Iosefa has hit seven against Tech in her eight games played. It was the second time this season Hugo had two home runs in a game, doing so against Austin Peay, while the fourth in her career. For Iosefa, it was the third time this season with two against Charleston Southern as well as the first game against the Jackets, making it six times in her career. Georgia has hit 13 home runs since game one at Mizzou, as Hugo and Iosefa have hit eight of those. Both seniors are also catching up to Alisa Goler s all-time home run record of 58. Hugo now holds 55 at Georgia while Iosefa follows with 49. PERFECTION IN THE CIRCLE AT TECH Wilkinson and Bass combined for a perfect game in Wednesday s win at Georgia Tech. Wilkinson threw four of the five frames, striking out seven, while Bass finished the Jackets off in the fifth with two flyouts and a strikeout. It s the 10th perfect game in school history and the first no-hitter against the in-state foe. The game marked the third perfect outing of Wilkinson s career, as she had a perfect complete game against UAB in February. HOME RUN BRIGADE IN COLUMBIA The home runs were going off for the Bulldogs in Columbia, as Georgia totaled eight in the three-game series at Missouri. That was the most in a three-game SEC series since the Bulldogs hit 10 against Ole Miss in March Leading the charge was DiCarlo with three while Iosefa recorded two. Hugo, Lacey Sumerlin and Maeve McGuire each had one as well. WILKINSON, GRAY WITH 100+ STRIKEOUTS After falling one short last season, Gray notched her 100th strikeout of the season against LSU, after tying her career high with 11 strikeouts in game two against the Tigers. Now the sophomore and Wilkinson each have over 100 strikeouts on the year with plenty of games to add more. Heading into the weekend, the duo makes Georgia just one of 11 schools in the nation to have at least two pitchers on staff with 100+ strikeouts, including SEC foe Florida. GEORGIA RECORDS PROGRAM S 500TH HOME WIN With the shutout win over Georgia Southern on Wednesday, Georgia secured its 500th home win in program history. Its stellar track record into the postseason slate puts Georgia as one of 11 teams in the nation to appear in a Regional for 14 or more straight years. Within that realm, Georgia is one of three Southeastern Conference teams to produce such success. Georgia isn t just a staple in Regional fields, but also into the next round, appearing in eight Super Regionals since The Bulldogs have made it to Super Regionals the last two seasons, just one of 12 teams to do so.
