The Crimson Tide have played 23 games against teams ranked in the top 50 in the RPI, posting a 16-7 record against them. Alabama s strength of schedule ranks No. 8 and the SEC as a whole owns the toughest conference RPI in the country. One more win would mark the 40th of the season for Alabama. The Crimson Tide have earned at least 40 wins every year since 2000 and have only finished with under 40 wins twice in the program s previous 19 seasons. From , Alabama averaged wins per season, finishing above 50 in 11 of those years and above 60 in three of them. Alabama pitching has allowed the fewest walks of any SEC team (80), averaging just one walk every 3.6 innings. Alabama has held its opponents to three or fewer walks in all but six games this season, including 13 games with zero walks issued. Wednesday s game vs. South Alabama marked the 32nd and final non-conference game of the regular season for the Crimson Tide. Alabama is now 29-3 in nonconference games this season, including an 18-3 mark against teams ranked in the top 100 in the latest RPI. LAST TIME OUT: ALABAMA EDGES OUT SOUTH ALABAMA, 4-2 A two-run error in the fourth inning ultimately made the difference in a close 4-2 win for Alabama over South Alabama Wednesday night at Rhoads Stadium. Alabama scored four runs on six hits against South Alabama, including a two-run home run by Leona Lafaele as part of a 2-3 day at the plate. Sydney Littlejohn and Alexis Osorio each pitched in the victory, as Littlejohn earned her 18th win of the year and Osorio threw 2.2 shutout relief innings for her fifth save, striking out seven of the nine batters she faced. Jaguar starter Devin Brown didn t factor into the decision, exiting with the score tied at 2-2 after 2.0 innings, but reliever Destin Vicknair took the loss after a costly throwing error gave Alabama the lead in the fourth inning. 7 Head Coach PATRICK MURPHY THE PATRICK MURPHY FILE 18th Year In today s world of collegiate athletics, few can claim to have been at a program since the beginning. Not many can say they were there at the origin of a program, having been present from the very inception to where it stands today. And certainly nobody can claim to have brought a program further, and in shorter time, than Crimson Tide head softball coach Patrick Murphy, entering his 18th season as the program s leader in From a humble start to a national championship, Murphy has taken Alabama to the top of the college softball world. Beginning with his days as an assistant in the very first years of the Alabama softball program, Murphy has emerged as the face of a team that has grown under his leadership to become one of the most consistently successful programs in the nation. The accomplishments are there for everyone to see. A 2012 National Championship, 10 Women s College Northern Iowa, 1988 World Series berths, 10 SEC regular season or tournament titles and 17 straight NCAA Tournament bids are only a few of the team honors that Murphy has brought to Tuscaloosa during his tenure. The individual honors are equally as impressive. Tide players have earned All-America honors 95 times under Murphy s watch. He has tutored 89 All-SEC performers and 83 NFCA All-Region honorees. His teams have been just as successful in the classroom, with 19 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and 185 SEC All- Academic selections. Even more impressively, Murphy has led the program to a surge of popularity among Tide fans. Alabama has become a regular atop the nation s attendance standings, with an ever-growing group of loyal fans who fill the stands at Rhoads Stadium throughout the season. The 2008 campaign was a sellout, setting a new benchmark in season tickets sold with more than 1,200 allocated to loyal fans. During the 2009 season, Alabama broke the single-season attendance record formerly held by Fresno State. Then, in 2010, a record total of 80,690 fans were part of the atmosphere in Tuscaloosa followed by 68,110 that took in the Tide in Attendance has topped the 90,000 mark in three of the last four seasons, with 91,541 fans in 2012, 93,332 in 2013 and 90,021 in HEAD COACH - UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA RECORD: (.789) Year Record Pct.
