All three games will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network and on the air via KEBC 1560 AM or online through the Franchise 2. THERE S ONLY ONE OKLAHOMA The Sooners rose to the No. 1 ranking in both the USA Today/NFCA Division I Coaches Poll and the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25. Oklahoma is the only program to be ranked every week of the NFCA poll all-time, a run of 362 straight polls. Oklahoma earned its first NFCA No. 1 ranking after winning the 2000 national championship. It spent a school-record 11 straight weeks at No. 1 during the 2013 season, and also earned the designation after winning national titles in 2016 and The Sooners opened the 2017 and 2018 seasons as the No. 1 preseason team and were most recently ranked first by the NFCA Poll in week two of the 2018 season. Speaking of No. 1, Oklahoma leads the nation in the following statistical categories: batting average (.374), earned run average (1.20), fielding percentage (.987), on-base percentage (.465), runs per game (8.20), shutouts (19), slugging percentage (.688) and win-loss percentage (.950). STREAKING With 28 consecutive wins, Oklahoma holds the longest active winning streak in Division I softball. The streak marks the seventh time in program history the Sooners have strung together 20 straight wins and is the fourth-longest winning streak in OU annals. The next longest streaks in Sooner records are 29 games (achieved in 2005), 30 games (2018) and 31 games (2016). Oklahoma has also won 34 straight Big 12 games, marking an OU and a Big 12 record. During their 28-game win streak, the Sooners have scored a total of 238 runs (8.5 per game) while only surrendering 24 (0.86 per game). Overall, the Sooners have run-ruled 21 opponents and shut out 19 in 2019, outscoring foes They have won 30 games by at least five runs and have multiple home runs in 23 games. Historically, the Sooners offensive output ranks among the best in program history. Dating back to 2004, no other Sooner team has hit 77 home runs or earned 21 run-rules through 40 games, and only the 2015 squad had scored more runs (374) in that span. Additionally, if the season were to end at this point, the 2019 Sooners batting average and slugging percentage would both rank first in OU annals, while their on-base percentage would be second behind the 2015 team s.473.

The 11-game road trip marks the longest streak of true road games under 25th-year head coach Patty Gasso. In its program history, Oklahoma has only ever played more consecutive true road contests once, opening the 1981 season with 12 straight away games. The Sooners will be road tested in 2019 with 38 of their 51 games being held on the road or at neutral sites. Oklahoma will play just 13 games at Marita Hynes Field in OU has played fewer regular season home games just three other times in the Gasso era: nine in 1997, 12 in 1996 and six in Additionally, 13 home games is the third-lowest total in the country among major conference teams this season. Only Oregon State and Iowa have fewer, each scheduled to host 12 home games in The Sooners are playing a road-heavy schedule primarily due to Big 12 scheduling. In 2018, the Sooners series against Iowa State was moved to Norman due to snow in Ames, Iowa. As a result, Oklahoma will travel to Ames in both 2019 and 2020 and will host just four conference games (Baylor series and one Bedlam contest) in Norman this year. Oklahoma has shown to be up to the test, winning 51 of its last 52 true road contests, including nine in FACING TEXAS Oklahoma leads the all-time softball Red River Rivalry 42-24, including a 14-9 mark in Austin. The Sooners have won the last 15 meetings and the last six conference series ( ). In 2011, OU and Texas split a two-game series, and the series in 2010 was canceled. Texas last won a series against the Sooners in 2009 when the Longhorns won both games in Austin. This week marks the first time since 2013 the rivals have met while both ranked by the NFCA. All-time, Texas holds a advantage over Oklahoma when both teams are ranked. The 2013 series was also the only time the two teams met when either was ranked No. 1 (Oklahoma the nation s top team entering that series). The Sooners claimed the series against the No. 6 Longhorns, 2-1. OU s 15 consecutive wins against UT is the longest winning streak by either team in the all-time Red River Rivalry. In 2018, the Sooners swept the Longhorns in Norman, sealing the weekend with a 5-4, walk-off win in the eighth inning. Oklahoma then run-ruled Texas 10-1 in six innings during pool play of the 2018 Big 12 Tournament. DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS After last weekend, Oklahoma s defense led the country with a fielding percentage of.987. The Sooners have only committed 12 errors in 2019 and been error-free in their last eight games. In 2018, the Sooners led the nation with a.986 fielding percentage, committing just 22 errors in 62 games. In addition to ranking first in the country, the Sooners 2018 fielding percentage and error total both ranked first in program history for a single season.

The Sooners set a program and league record for consecutive conference wins with 34 in a row, dating back to OU is also undefeated in its last 51 conference series ( in that span) and has not lost a conference series since Winners of the past seven regular season titles, the Sooners are the favorites to finish first in 2019 as each of the other six head coaches placed the Sooners in the top spot in the preseason poll (coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams). This marks the seventh straight year and 10th in the last 11 that OU has topped the conference s preseason poll. The Sooners received 36 points in this year s poll and were followed by Texas (29 votes), Baylor (26), Oklahoma State (23), Texas Tech (15), Iowa State (12) and Kansas (6). The Sooners went 18-0 in conference play in 2018, marking their first undefeated conference season in program history. Romero was selected third overall by the USSSA Pride. She is the third Sooner to be selected in the first round in the last two years, joining 2018 draftees Paige Lowary and Paige Parker. Clifton was the ninth overall pick, drafted by the Chicago Bandits in the second round. Joining Romero on the USSSA Pride is Knighten, who was chosen as the 20th overall pick to close out the fourth round. Three selections in the draft matches the second-most in one year in OU program history, also achieved in 2008 and In 2013, four Sooners were drafted. The NPF College Draft featured five rounds of five selections for a total of 25 draftees in the 2019 rookie class. Due to NCAA regulations, an active college senior-athlete may not sign with her respective franchise until her 2019 college season is over. JUAREZ, GREEN EARN BIG 12 WEEKLY ACCOLADES Giselle Juarez and Grace Green earned Big 12 weekly awards on Tuesday. Juarez was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. Green was tabbed Big 12 Co-Player of the Week for her second career conference accolade, sharing the honor with Oklahoma State s Rylee Bayless. Juarez went 1-0 in two appearances (one start) at Kansas, finishing with a perfect 0.00 ERA. She led the Big 12 with strikeouts per seven innings pitched, ranking second overall with 13 total strikeouts. Juarez allowed just one hit over seven innings pitched last week, totaling a.045 opponent batting average that ranked second in the league. In the series opener, Juarez registered her second shutout of the year and first in conference play. She struck out 11 batters, matching the highest single-game total by a Big 12 pitcher in a conference game this season. It also marked her fifth game of the season with double-digit strikeouts. Green started all three games at Kansas, finishing 5-for-7 at the plate. Four of her hits were for extra bases, including three home runs and a double, helping Green lead the Big 12 with a slugging percentage and 15 total bases. A product of Oakdale, Calif., Green tied for the conference lead with three home runs and five runs scored last week while ranking second with seven RBIs and four walks. In the series finale, Green recorded the second game of her season with multiple home runs. PITCH PERFECT All three of OU s primary pitchers rank in the top 15 nationally in strikeouts per seven innings pitched. Shannon Saile ranks second in the country (12.6 K/7 IP), while Giselle Juarez is 12th (9.70) and Mariah Lopez is 14th (9.68). Saile currently leads Division I softball with a 9.80 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Juarez is 17th in the country with 6.10 K/BB, while Lopez is 27th with 5.38 strikeouts per walk. Overall, the Sooner pitching staff leads the country with an ERA of 1.20, with Lopez and Saile tied for sixth individually (1.03) and Juarez at 36th (1.52). Additionally, the Sooners rank second nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.36 K/BB) ROMERO RISES IN THE RANKINGS Senior Sydney Romero is proving to be one of the best players in the country this season. She currently ranks third among Division I softball in total bases (122), sixth in hits (61), eighth in batting average (.462), ninth in slugging percentage (.924) and runs per game (1.18), 16th in strikeout rate (33.0 at-bats per strikeout) and 17th in home runs (15). Romero leads all active Division I players with 291 career hits and 774 career at-bats. She ranks second with 504 career total bases and fourth with 208 runs scored and 200 RBIs. In the OU record books, Romero s 504 total bases rank second, 291 career hits sit in third, 208 runs and 200 RBIs are fifth and 47 home runs hold sixth. AVIU TO BEHOLD Senior outfielder Falepolima Aviu is currently creating the best offensive production of her career. Aviu s 2019 slash line (AVG/OBP/SLG) is.393/.490/.654. All three categories are on pace to be the best-single season stats of her career. Aviu s offense has been a significant turnaround from 2018, when the California native finished.276/.376/.417. As a junior, Aviu totaled 43 hits; she matched that total in 37 games as senior and is now at 44. GOING GREEN In conference games this season, OU freshman Grace Green currently leads the Big 12 in batting average (.583), on-base percentage (.645), slugging percentage (1.542), home runs (seven), RBIs (18) and total bases (37). Overall, Green s 2019 slash line (AVG/OBP/SLG) is.441/.833/.525; her season batting average and on-base percentage both rank second on the team while her slugging percentage is third. She leads all Big 12 freshmen in the following offensive categories: batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits (45), home runs (12), runs scored (37), RBIs (38) and total bases (85).

She led the Big 12 with 29 strikeouts, finishing second with strikeouts per seven innings pitched. The junior struck out 14 batters over 6.0 shutout innings against BYU, good for the most strikeouts by a Big 12 pitcher this season and her first double-digit strikeout performance as a Sooner. Juarez followed that showing with 11 strikeouts against No. 14 Arizona. In her third appearance, Juarez struck out all four batters she faced over 1.1 innings of work. Juarez allowed one run all weekend, coming against the 14th-ranked Wildcats to finish with a 0.49 ERA. She scattered four hits over 14.1 innings to total a.087 opponent batting average that ranked third in the Big 12 and first among pitchers with multiple appearances. This marks the second time in her collegiate career that Juarez has been recognized by the NFCA with a weekly award; she also earned the accolade in March 2018 as a sophomore at Arizona State. It is her third overall national weekly honor, as she was named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week last season. The Glendale, Ariz., product is just the third Sooner in program history to be named NFCA Pitcher of the Week, joining Jill Most (1997) and Paige Parker (2015 and 2018). THAT LL LEAVE A MARK... ON THE RECORD BOOKS Senior captain and Oklahoma native Caleigh Clifton set a program record on Feb. 16 for the number of times hit by a pitch. The first pitch of the game against Hofstra hit her in the leg for her 55th career HBP. A CLASS OF THEIR OWN The 2019 season marks the final season for six OU seniors: Falepolima Aviu, Caleigh Clifton, Shay Knighten, Kylie Lundberg, Raegan Rogers and Sydney Romero. GUESS WHO S BACK, BACK AGAIN The Sooners have added familiar faces to the coaching staff in In July, Jennifer Rocha was named the program s associate head coach and pitching coach. Once a student-athlete ( ) and graduate assistant ( ) for the Sooners, the former Jennifer Jaime returns to Oklahoma after most recently spending 13 years at Florida. During Rocha s tenure, the Gators won two NCAA titles (2014, 2015) and made nine Women s College World Series appearances (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018). Additionally, Florida claimed seven SEC regular season titles (2008, 2009, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) and four SEC Tournament tiles (2008, 2009, 2013, 2018) with Rocha on staff. Leading the Gators pitching staff, Rocha has coached seven All-Americans. In 2015, she was named NFCA Assistant Coach of the Year. Another new coach familiar to the Sooner program is Keilani Ricketts, who returned to Oklahoma to serve as the volunteer assistant in Ricketts is one of just three players in college softball history to be named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year more than once, joining the ranks of Cat Osterman and Danielle Lawrie. Ricketts became the first Sooner to win the award in 2012 and then repeated in The first four-time All-American in program history, Ricketts was named the 2013 Big 12 Female Athlete of the Year as she helped lead OU to its second national title. Selected as the No. 4 pick in the 2013 NPF Draft, Ricketts has spent the past six seasons with USSSA Pride. Additionally, Ricketts joined the Toyota Shokki out of Kariya, Japan, in August Ricketts is also a member of the USA Softball Women s National Team. Also joining the OU staff are Kelsey Arnold and Lea Wodach, who will serve as undergraduate assistants for 2019 as they complete their degrees. The duo exhausted athletic eligibility in 2018, finishing their playing careers with two NCAA titles, four Big 12 regular season crowns, two Big 12 postseason trophies and three WCWS appearances. Finally, a pair of graduate assistants round out the OU coaching staff s new additions: DJ Gasso and Delanie Gourley. Gasso concluded his collegiate baseball career in 2018 at the University of Central Oklahoma, while Gourley graduated from Florida in 2017 after earning All-America First-Team, All-Southeast Region First-Team and All-SEC First-Team honors in both her junior and senior seasons.

6 2019 OKLAHOMA SOFTBALL AT TEXAS 6 MASTER PLANS FOR THE OU SOFTBALL COMPLEX The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents approved revised design phase plans and updated programming information for a new $22 million softball facility. It is proposed that the new softball home be located at the northwest corner of Jenkins Avenue and Imhoff Road, approximately one-half mile south of the current facility. This plan alters the previous masterplan for renovation of the present location to allow space for implementation of the required programmatic facility elements, make further use of adjacent athletics facilities and take advantage of existing parking in the immediate vicinity. In recent years, the current OU Softball Complex has been stretched beyond its seating capacity of 1,378. On May 26, with the addition of temporary bleachers, a record crowd of 1,927, one of 18 sellouts during the 2018 season, watched the Sooners defeat Arkansas 9-0 in the NCAA Super Regional championship game. That kind of interest has stressed not only the seating capacity, but also the services available to those visiting the facility. It is projected that the new facility will have capacity for 3,000 fans. In terms of other fan amenities, the current concept, which is subject to updates and alterations, includes three concessions stands with a total of 11 points of sale (an increase of nine) and six restrooms (an increase of 60 fixtures). Other changes include a 10,000 square-foot indoor practice facility, which is nearly double the size of the current facility, and several team spaces including a training room, locker room and classroom. This will be one of the finest facilities in the country and give us a real boost in training and recruiting, said OU Softball Head Coach Patty Gasso. It also allows us to serve our great fans with the kind of amenities they deserve. The construction timeline for the project, which will be funded in its entirety by the athletics department and donors, is yet to be determined. Mariah Lopez opened the season by winning back-to-back Big 12 Pitcher of the Week Awards. On Feb. 26, OU swept the weekly awards as Sydney Romero was named Big 12 Player of the Week and Giselle Juarez was tabbed Big 12 Pitcher of the Week. Shannon Saile earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on March 12 before Juarez and Caleigh Clifton wept on March 19. Grace Green earned the award on March 26, and Clifton claimed it again on April 9. This week, Juarez and Green garnered honors. Overall, Romero has earned five Big 12 weekly accolades in her career while Lopez has claimed three. Juarez also holds three weekly honors from the Big 12; she also earned four Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors while at Arizona State in Saile s honor on March 12 was her first from the Big 12, adding to her seven Conference USA Pitcher of the Week honors in 2017 and 2018 while at Florida International. Clifton and Green both have two awards in their Sooner careers. LAST TIME OUT The Sooners opened their 11-game road swing with a three-game sweep at Kansas, outscoring the Jayhawks It marked the first time OU has shut out a conference opponent in all three games since the Big 12 began playing three-game series in In game one, Giselle Juarez recorded a one-hit shutout as the Sooners run-ruled Kansas 10-0 in six innings. Grace Green went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, three RBIs and a home run. Caleigh Clifton also homered in the contest, while Sydney Romero registered a pair of RBIs. As a team, OU drew a season-high 10 walks. Mariah Lopez tossed a one-hitter of her own in game two, leading OU to a 5-0 win to seal the series. Romero finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and a walk while Shay Knighten registered a pair of RBIs that put the Sooners on the board. Shannon Saile earned the win in game three as the OU offense tallied four home runs to claim an 8-0, six-inning win. Green homered twice while Romero and Clifton each recorded one home run apiece. QUICK HITS OU s 16-0 victory over Baylor on April 7 marked Oklahoma s 46th consecutive home win, breaking a school record that stood for over 17 years. The Sooners have not lost at Marita Hynes Field since May 20, 2017; the previous program best of 45 straight home wins was achieved from April 14, 2000 to March 29, Senior infielder Sydney Romero, junior left-handed pitcher Giselle Juarez and sophomore utility player Jocelyn Alo are among the 50 student-athletes on the 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List. All three Sooners were named NFCA First Team All-Americans in Three selections tie for third nationally with Arizona and Washington having four representatives and Florida and UCLA also having three. Senior Sydney Romero was named one of 10 finalists for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Under 25th-year head coach Patty Gasso, the Sooners have only gone undefeated throughout an entire month five times, excluding June. The feat was also accomplished in March 2018, May 2016, February 2013, February 2007 and April A pair of Oklahoma alumnae were named to the 2019 USA Softball Women s National Team: Shelby Pendley ( ) and Keilani Ricketts ( ). They were joined at National Team Selection Trials by former Sooners Lauren Chamberlain ( ) and Paige Lowary ( ), current graduate assistant Delanie Gourley (Florida, ) and current sophomore Jocelyn Alo. 11 2019 OKLAHOMA SOFTBALL AT TEXAS 11 Now in her 25th season at the University of Oklahoma, NFCA Hall of Fame head coach Patty Gasso has molded the OU softball program into a national power and permanently placed herself among the elite college softball coaches in the country. Oklahoma has won four national championships, winning in 2000, 2013, 2016 and OU is one of just three programs in NCAA history to win more than two national titles. She s reached the Women s College World Series 12 times during her tenure, and in the process, advanced to the postseason in each of her 24 seasons. With 28 seasons as a head coach to her name, Gasso has a career collegiate coaching record of 1, (.779) and holds an overall record of 1, (.786) at the University of Oklahoma. Needing only 1,300 games to get there, Gasso became the second fastest to reach 1,000 wins in NCAA Division I history during the 2015 season. She has won more Big 12 games (325-85) than any coach in the league s history and has twice as many wins as any other coach in OU history. Keilani Ricketts was the two-time USA Softball National Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013, becoming just the third player in history to win more than once.
