Projects include: - NS Dept of Education: Curriculum development for the original GIS program offered at COGS - MCM Geographics Limited: One third owner and operator of a company specializing in the development of database management systems and geographic data capture solutions - ESRI Canada Limited: Developed computer aided instruction modules for teaching GIS technology and applications - CANMAP Research Institute: Developed software solutions to interface various GIS and image analysis packages Agricultural Research Station Kentville, Nova Scotia Employed during the summers as a research technician involved in various agricultural research projects Research Interests: Supplementary Information My research interests involve the integration of multi-scale and multi-temporal data sets (including existing GIS databases, high resolution digital elevation models, satellite and airborne imagery, in-situ climate data, and other field data) to study environmental issues. These data sets, and the hardware/software systems to manage and analyze them, form the basis for developing environmental information management systems. Important issues such as land cover change, habitat alteration, ecoregional analysis and landscape characterization are addressed in attempts to determine better techniques for monitoring and managing our ecological conditions.

3 Professional Memberships and Associations: Long-standing board member for the Science and Management of Protected Areas Association (SAMPAA) and currently a member of the executive and the Education Committee. This association is active in supporting and promoting protected areas research and management. Member of the International Association of Landscape Ecology (IALE) and past Regional Chair of the Nova Scotia chapter of the Canadian Society for Landscape Ecology and Management (CSLEM). Contributed in numerous Parks Canada workshops and currently a member of the advisory team on various projects including Kejimkujik National Park s Campground Rehabilitation Project and their Ecosystem Information Science Assessment Project. Supervised and actively contributed geomatics expertise and direction to a number of graduate students at both Acadia and Dalhousie Universities. Past President of the Geomatics Association of Nova Scotia (GANS) which strives to promote the further development of the Nova Scotia Geomatics industry both domestically and internationally, and to foster the application of geomatics within all sectors of the Nova Scotia economy. Past board member for the Champlain Institute (CI), an organization that draws on the resources and expertise of a team of experienced Atlantic Canadian companies and educational institutes to provide a broad range of specialized geomatics services to the international community. Past member of the International Advisory Group for the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) Virtual Campus GIScience Curriculum. This group is responsible for advising on the design and content of an on-line Geographic Information Science curriculum. Past member of the International Advisory Group for the Indonesian based Masters Program on Information Technology for Natural Resource Management, responsible for the design, content, and direction of the International Masters Degree program.
