When Content Chemical Substance Examination Sheet, that you already submitted, agrees with the requirement of the revised TDK Green Procurement Standard Document, you do not need inform to TDK. When not agrees with it, please inform to TDK within 30 days after you got information from TDK. When no information from you, TDK will judge that Content Chemical Substance Examination Sheet, that you already submitted, do not need any changes. 4.Definition of words (1) Chemical Substances This is an element (a simple substance) and a compound (including an alloy). [Note] Compound consists of 2 or more chemical substances. (2) Environmentally unfriendly substances These are chemical substances that TDK has judged will give or would possibly give adverse effect on natural environment if contained in a product. Such substances are classified as follows in consideration of regulatory as well as customer requirements. [1] Prohibited Substances A1: [For Chemicals],[For Parts],[For Packaging] In all the chemical substances that TDK Group Company to be contained in TDK products, TDK judges that Prohibited Substances A1 is the high risk substances. [2] Prohibited Substances A2: [For Chemicals],[For Parts],[For Packaging] In all the chemical substances that TDK Group Company to be contained in TDK products, TDK judges that these are not Prohibited Substances A1 nor Prohibited Substances B. [3] Prohibited Substances B: [For Chemicals] These are highly toxic substances the use of which in TDK group companies is banned in principle. [4] Controlled Substances A: [For Chemicals],[For Parts],[For Packaging] These are chemical substances of which TDK has not banned the containment in its product but deemed highly necessary to grasp the containment information. [5] Controlled Substances B: [For Chemicals] These are chemical substances of which: (1) TDK does not enforce immediate ban on use within the TDK group companies but deems necessary to limit use and require reduction of 12

14 the amount of use or switching to less toxic substances; or (2) TDK group companies must give appropriate control in using them. (3) Application "Application" in this standard refers to an application where a chemical substance is used. Whether it or not, and it s threshold values are specified application by application. (4) Contained This means that a chemical substance is contained in a purchased item as an element or content, and is classified as below; [1] Intentional addition This means to have a certain chemical substance intentionally contained in a purchased item for a certain purpose. [Note] As to dopants used to manufacture semiconductor devices, though there are some that are added intentionally too, these will not be handled as "intentional addition" if they in fact remain in semiconductor devices in extremely low amounts. [2] Impurities This refers to a substance that cannot be fully removed technically in the refining process of the material, or a substance that is created in synthetic reaction process and cannot be fully removed technically. By the way, the meaning of the descriptions in "5. Control Standards for Chemical Substances (P16) are shown by the following examples. Please note that TDK Group Company does not require of new analysis. [Example 1] Prohibited Substances A1, A2 and B Category Threshold value Meaning Prohibited to be contained Intentional addition is. If containment of impurities is known, the amount must be grasped. [Note] In case the impurity containment risk is judged low, the threshold value will not be set. Prohibited to be contained <5ppm Intentional addition is. To be less than 5ppm as impurity. [Note] In case that substance is high risk to contain as impurity, set Threshold value. (Because it is limited to contain by law or requirement) 13

15 Category Threshold value Meaning Exempt from application There is no limit in content as intentional addition or as impurity, but identify the fact that it is contained. Exempt from application 3500ppm To be 3500ppm or less as intentional addition or as impurity. Clarify the content if it is 3500ppm or higher. [Example 2] Controlled Substances A, B Category Threshold value Meaning Controlled to be Clarify the content volume and submit it to TDK if it <1000ppm contained exceeds 1000ppm as intentional addition or as impurity. (5) Prohibited to be contained This refers to a chemical substance whose containment in purchased items as an intentional additive or in amount exceeding the impurities threshold is. Including content as impurity (confirmation of no content), control is necessary. (6) Exempt from application This means not to prohibit to be contained in a purchased item for a certain limited application. However, a survey report showing the content and confirmation of content volume is required. (7) Threshold value This refers to the rate of impurities contained in permissible concentration level in purchased items or materials. For TDK products that TDK Group Company will sell or send as a non solid form, it means permissible intentional addition or impurity that contains in it. [Note] Considering customer s requirement, TDK Group Company decide a percentage of content per Subparts. (8) Subpart This refers to a homogeneous material that can not be separated anymore. (9) Homogeneous material "Homogeneous material" means such a material that cannot be mechanically disjointed into different materials. Homogeneous means of uniform composition throughout. "Homogeneous material" examples are individual material types such as plastic, ceramic, glass, metal, plating film, paper, corrugated cardboard, resin, and coating material. "Mechanically disjointed" means to be able to separate through mechanical operation, for example, by unscrewing, cutting, shredding, grinding, and in polishing process, etc. 14

16 (Ex.1) A plastic cover is a "homogeneous material" if it is composed of one type of plastic that is not coated with any different material or not attached with any material on its inside or outside. In this case, threshold values shown under "plastic" in this standard document shall apply. (Ex.2) Electrical wire composed of metallic wire coated with insulating material is classified as a "nonhomogeneous material" because it can be separated into different materials through mechanical process. In this case, threshold values in this standard document shall apply to each separated material (each subpart) individually. (Ex.3) A semiconductor package contains a lot of homogenous materials (subparts) as follows. Electroplated tin coating on plastic molding materials and lead frames, Lead frame alloys, gold bonding wires, etc. Please investigate and reply for each subpart. (Ex.4) A plated item will be handled as 'plating film' and 'base material' as individually separable subparts, so please be careful. In addition, in case of multilayer plating, each layer will be handled as one subpart. 5.Control Standards for Chemical Substances Page Regulation by laws about Green Procurement 16 [Table 1] Prohibited Substances A1 17 [Table 2] Prohibited Substances A2 17,18 [Table 3] Prohibited Substances B 18 [Table 4] Controlled Substances A 19 [Table 5] Controlled Substances B 19 [Table 6] The SVHC of REACH Regulation( Supplement) 19 [Table 61] The SVHC of REACH Regulation (List of exhibition on October 28, 2008) [Table 62] The SVHC of REACH Regulation (List of exhibition on January 13, 2010) (Additional List of exhibition on March 30, 2010) [Table 63] The SVHC of REACH Regulation (List of exhibition on June 18, 2010) [Table 64] The SVHC of REACH Regulation (Additional List of exhibition on December 15, 2010) [Table 65] The SVHC of REACH Regulation (Additional List of exhibition on June 20, 2011) 15
