Venues Practical Information for Participants Most of the sessions will take place here! 1. Rector's Office Building of the Belarusian State University (Babrujskaja vulica 5a) 2. 2 II. Transportation Pick-up service The transfer from/to the airport will be organized for those participants who have provided us with their travel details by 3 rd of February. You will be met by staff members of the International Programs and Projects Office, Department for International Cooperation, BSU. The person who will be meeting guests at the airport will be holding the yellow sign ERASMUS. Please note, some sectors of the National airport is now closed due to constriction works. Most of arrivals will be taking place at sectors 5-6. Please inform us in advance about any delays or changes in your travel (call or sms). 3 Traveling on your own If you travel on your own you could take a bus National Airport Minsk Tsentralny Bus Station for the fare BYR (approx. 3 Euro). Transportation within the city The most convenient way to get around the city is Minsk Metro. The main BSU campus where all events will take place is located nearby to the metro station Ploshcha Lenina (Lenin Square). The Garni hotel is located in the city centre, the nearest metro station is Oktyabr skaya / Kastrychnickaya. 3

4 To reach the Tourist hotel you can take the metro train until the Partizanskaya / Partyzanskaya station (if you travel from the BSU, you should change the metro line on the Oktyabr skaya station and go via tunnel to another line). A metro trip costs 3000 BYR (approx Euro). The counter-ticket is called zheton. 4

5 III. Money The currency of the Republic of Belarus is Belarusian Ruble (BYR). You can exchange foreign currencies (e.g. Euro and USD) in almost any bank or currency exchange office which you can easily find in Minsk for they are at every turn. The exchange rates don t differ much as to bank. You can check bank offices offering best rates on the web site (in Russian). The exchange rates as of February 4, 2014 according to the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus are the following: 1 EUR = BYR, 1 USD = 9650 BYR. 6 IV. Weather Forecast The weather in Minsk is expected to be a little bit snowy, mostly on Monday morning. Freeze-thaw conditions: max 2 C on Monday morning, min -3 C on Tuesday night. Internet Access All seminar participants will be provided with free Wi-Fi in the BSU main campus buildings. The access details will be announced by the organizers on the first day of the event. VI. Medical Insurance Although the foreign guests entering the Republic of Belarus usually have some medical insurance, they are also required to purchase the medical insurance policy of the Belarusian company Belgosstrakh in the National Airport Minsk upon arrival. The insurance costs 2 Euro for 3-4 days and 3 Euro for 5-6 days (For more information see 6
