5 Individual spindle sensor Optimizing production and quality Operating principle of the ISM individual spindle sensor ISM is based on optical scanning of the traveler. If the traveler is no longer rotating on the ring, the control system detects an end down and indicates this by illuminating the spindle LED directly at the spinning position. Since the traveler speed is continuously monitored, slipper spindles (spindles running at less than their rated speed for a defined period of time) can also be precisely identified and indicated. Benefits of the individual spindle sensor The number of ends down is a critical factor in efforts to achieve an optimum balance between production and quality in ring spinning. The optimum speed curve for each article can only be defined by accurately recording the number of ends down. Exaggerated high speeds and the resulting ends down are followed by high numbers of clearer cuts on the winder, which leads to loss of quality in the yarn and considerably reduces production efficiency. However, low numbers of ends down can also mean that potential is still available for optimizing the speed curve. ISM the Rieter individual spindle sensor helps to optimize the speed curve on the ring spinning machine and displays the influence exerted by various factors, such as raw material blend, on the number of ends down. 7 Three-level light guidance system The direct route to dealing with problem spindles Checking each individual spindle position is now a thing of the past. The 3-level light guidance system leads personnel directly to the problem spindles by means of signal lamps. Personnel can thus intervene selectively wherever necessary. Routine tours of inspection are reduced to a minimum. Priorities are set by the different levels of the light guidance system, and working efficiency is improved. 1 st level: machine Two signal lamps on the headstock and tailstock of the ring spinning machine indicate the side of the machine on which the ends down threshold has been exceeded. 2 nd level: section A high-intensity LED (Light Emitting Diode) on each section (24 spindles) indicates that an end down or a slipper spindle has been detected in this section. 3 rd level: spindle This level indicates which spindle is operating outside the defined tolerances. Here the malfunction can be identified precisely on the basis of the light signal shown by the spindle LED: No light: normal operation, no malfunction Continuous light: end down Flashing light: slipper spindle The spindle LED makes it much easier to find ends down, especially with fine-count yarns. 9 ISM and SPIDERweb An unbeatable team SPIDERweb mill monitoring system The SPIDERweb mill monitoring system developed by Rieter covers all machines from the card to the spinning machine. The data are collected centrally and graphically displayed in the form of various reports and diagrams. The behavior of the machine, the changes in raw material blends and quality trends can be traced with a few mouse clicks. The combination is the key! While ISM continuously monitors the spinning positions and systematically detects ends down and slipper spindles, SPIDERweb collects all the information. All data are stored and enable a wide range of analyses to be performed. SPIDERweb and ISM enable you to analyze, compare and print out the data from all your spinning positions comfortably at your computer. SPIDERweb diagrams / tables SPIDERweb enables detailed analyses of ISM and production data. Tables or diagrams are available to meet every requirement. For example, the spinning position exception report accurately identifies the spinning positions that have exceeded the individually set alarm thresholds. On the basis of a fault report printout, maintenance personnel can selectively service the spinning positions where frequent failures occur.
