Status of ILIAS and FP7 prospective Geppo Cagnoli (ILIAS Project Scientist) INFN and U. of Glasgow 5 th RADIONET Board Meeting 21 st Apr Volterra

ILIAS Integrated Large Infrastructures for Astroparticle Science It has been promoted by ApPEC (Astro-particle Physics European Coordination) ILIAS is the only I3 activity of Astroparticle physics in FP6 Support and coordinate a common European Research Activity in the strategic areas of : Double β Decay Dark Matter Gravitational waves Gilles Gerbier replaced Bijan Saghai as coordinator at the beginning of this year 21st April 2006 RADIONET Board Meeting - Volterra 2 of 9

ILIAS summary data Start: April 1 st 2004, lasting 5 years 20 contractors from 12 countries ~ 70 labs Audit certificates for those that have a budget higher than 150k Other contributing labs 20 countries, 6 outside EU ~ 70 labs Budget 10M total 7.5M EC contribution 3 Joint Research Activities 5 Networking Activities 1 Transnational Access 4.1M 2.7M 0.7M 21st April 2006 RADIONET Board Meeting - Volterra 3 of 9

Driving ideas for FP7 ILIAS FP6 maintained the research fields (DBD, DM, GW) separated ILIAS is in favour of the Andrea Giuliani s idea to have JRAs based on specific technology relevant for different projects Networks can be based on physics issues (fundamental questions in ApPEC Roadmap) Multi-messenger investigation of the Universe: GW, neutrino LE+HE, γ-rays, x-rays, cosmic rays, HE neutrino, γ-rays, x-rays, cosmic rays are in HEAPNet! LE neutrino are in ILIAS Next Projects must be of a reasonable size to be managed but multi-messenger idea is strong and should be implemented in FP7 Astroparticle Physics 21st April 2006 RADIONET Board Meeting - Volterra 5 of 9

ILIAS Next grid PRELIMINARY Neutrino mass scale properties Dark Matter searches Multi messenger U-ground Labs Proton decay Advanced bolometers Low bkg studies Nuclear techniques Ad.
