SEASONALITY Crop of fresh apricots start with early varieties the first week of May and finishes end of July. We keep the late hard varieties in our cold store chambers almost till end of August. 5 PEACHES About 20 varieties of peaches are cultivated in Greece, mostly in the northern regions of Macedonia (Naoussa, Veroia, Edessa and Pieria) The temperate, sunny summers, avid autumn rains, and cool winters in these parts make the climate perfect for peaches, so it s no surprise that at least one, the Naoussa peach with its bright red skin, enjoys PDO (Protected Designation of Origin)status tons Is the total production of table and industry peaches in Greece. This volume makes Greece the 3rd producing country in Europe28 after Spain and Italy. VARIETIES Main varieties include: Red Haven, Spring Crest, Spring Lady, June Gold, Flavor Crest, Maria Bianca, Sun Cloud, Sun Crest, May Crest, J. H. Hale, Fayette, Flaminia, Early May Crest, Spring Belle, Royal Glory and O Henry AVAILABILITY May is the first month of crop for early varieties of peaches in Peloponnese region. First week of June crop starts at Imathia region and availability of late varieties finishes end of September.
