1 Course Description: Master Syllabus and Course Content MATH 0989 Foundations for College Algebra Georgia Highlands College Updated for Fall 2017 Mathematics 0989: Foundations for College Algebra MATH Prerequisite: None This course is a review of introductory algebra as preparation to take MATH 1111 along with MATH Topics include properties of numbers, linear equations and inequalities, quadratic equations, graphs, polynomials and roots. Students must pass the class with a C or better. Note about Progression on the College Algebra (STEM) Pathway: After earning a C or better in this class (Math 0989), students will progress to Math 1111 and Math 0999 the following semester. In order to complete Learning Support requirements for mathematics, students must earn a grade of D or better in MATH Student Learning Outcomes: Goal: Students will interpret and apply mathematical information, concepts, and principles embedded in verbal, numerical, graphic, and symbolic representations. Student Learning Outcomes 1 : Students will be able to solve equations. Students will be able to solve inequalities. Students will be able to graph functions.
