Typically, in mostly non-porous rock or in permanently water saturated soil, an earth loop length between ft and 100 feet per ton (.-10.8m/kW) of capacity is required. Within the United States, see Figure 1 (page ) to help determine the appropriate earth loop length. For installations outside of the United States, the following rules will dictate the sizing of the earth loop. These rules assume that the earth loop will be installed within bedrock or permanently water saturated ground. For the building to be conditioned, calculate the annual heating and the annual cooling loads. Use AA Manual J or other locally recognized load calculation program.
