2 HVAC Guide Specifications Fan Coil Unit Vertical Cabinet Model, Ducted HVAC Guide Specifications Size Range: 800 to 00 Nominal CFM MagicAire Model Number: BV Part 1 General 1.01 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Vertical, 2-pipe or 4-pipe, belt-driven fan coil unit. External parts are to be made with polyurethane based powder coated galvanealed, while internal parts are to be built from heavy gauge galvanized steel casing model fan coil unit for ducted installation above the ceiling, with full access to internal components QUALITY ASSURANCE Each coil shall be factory tested for leakage at minimum of 0 psig air pressure with coil submerged in water. Insulation and adhesive shall meet NFPA-90A requirements for flame spread and smoke generation DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING Unit shall be handled and stored in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions. Part 2 Products 2.01 EQUIPMENT A. General: Factory-assembled, vertical, draw-thru type fan coil unit is suitable for ducted installation. Unit shall be complete with water, DX or steam coil(s); fan(s); motor; belt drive; drain pan; and filters. B. Casing: Construction shall be heavy gauge galvanealed steel, painted with baked on polyurethane based powder coating, colored beige, lined with one-in. thick fiberglass Exact-O-Kote thermal/acoustical insulation. Supply and return duct connections shall be approx. one inch long. Removable front panel shall be provided for access to the fan/motor assembly. A molded plastic double-sloped IAQ drain pan shall extend under the full length and width of the coil(s) with a 3/4-in FPT connection for sizes BV 08-20, and BV 30 & standard drain pans are galvanized. (Optional) Stainless steel drain pan for sizes BV 30 &. C. Fans: Belt-driven, double-width fan wheels shall have forward-curved blades and be statically and dynamically balanced. Fan drive shall consist of variable-pitch motor pulley, fixed-pitch fan pulley and V-belt. Fans and scrolls shall be of galvanized steel. D. Coils: Unit shall be equipped with a standard capacity (3) or (4)-row CW/HW, or (3) or (4)-row DX A-coil for installation in a 2-pipe system. Additional coils shall be provided for installation in a 4-pipe system. Water coils shall have 3/8-in. (sizes 08-30) and 1/2-in. (sizes ) copper tubes with aluminum fins bonded to the tubes by mechanical expansion. Water coil(s) shall have manual air vent(s). DX coils shall have 3/8-in. copper tubes with aluminum fins bonded to the tubes by mechanical expansion. Coil(s) shall have a minimum working pressure of 0 psig at 200 F. Each coil shall have sweat connections for copper tubes. E. Operating Characteristics: A single-circuit coil unit installed in a 2-pipe CW/HW system shall be capable of providing heating or cooling. DX coils are suitable for R-22 or R-410A cooling only or R-22 or R-410A heat pump operation. A two coil unit installed in a 4-pipe system shall be capable of providing sequenced heating and cooling as determined by the controls provided by others. F. Motor(s): Fan motors shall be open, drip-proof, single-speed, 60 Hz, 17 rpm single or 3-phase, suitable for continuous duty at 104-deg F ( C) in 115, 208, 230, or 277 volts (60 Hz). Three-phase motors are available in 208, 230, or 460 volts (60 Hz). Single-phase motors shall be provided with resilient mount and automatic reset thermal overload protection. Three-phase 575 volt motors are by others. G. Electric Heat: a. The electric discharge heater shall be constructed of high-grade resistance wire supported by ceramic insulators on plated steel brackets. The electric heaters are to be field mounted to the unit or duct mounted downstream from the fan outlet. High limit thermal cutouts and non adjustable air proving switch shall protect the heat elements in the event of an air failure. Electric heaters are factory pre-wired for field mounting and electrical power connection. b. (Optional) Single point line connection includes fan contactor/ relay. c. (Optional) Disconnect for combined heater and motor amperage. H. Filters: a. 2 throwaway filter(s) shall be installed in the unit. b. (Optional) 2 pleated filter(s), MERV-7, shall be installed as indicated on the equipment schedule. I. Insulation: a. Units shall be equipped with 1-in. thick, 1.5-lbs/ft 3, Exact-O-Kote insulation. b. (Optional) 7/8 closed cell insulation c. (Optional) 1 double wall construction shall consist of 1 Exact-O-Kote insulation with min. 22-gauge galvanized steel liner with no fiberglass insulation exposed to the airstream. J. Coil Options: a. Unit shall be equipped with a coil for installation in a 2-pipe system. b. For installation in a 4-pipe CW/HW system, unit shall be equipped with a (3) or (4) row cooling/2-row hot water heating coils (heating coils located in either preheat or reheat position). c. Unit shall be equipped with a standard capacity (3) or (4) row DX (direct expansion) cooling coil (or optional dual circuit face split) DX cooling coil as required. d. For installation in a 4-pipe system the unit shall be equipped with either a (3) or (4) row DX cooling/2-row heating coil. Note: Hot water coil re-heat installation requires the use of a heating coil low-limit on units with DX cooling. Optional Accessories: a. Discharge or Return air plenum shall be constructed of heavy gauge galvanealed steel, painted with baked on polyurethane based powder coating, colored beige, lined with one-in. thick fiberglass Exact-O-Kote thermal/acoustical insulation. b. Units to be provided with ETL listed motor start stop station (MSS) with 24v transformer, terminal strip and disconnect switch. Motors without thermal overload will have motor starters with overload protection. MSS is not available with 2-speed motors or electric heat see electric heat option. BVE 1.0 Page 2 6/12/2008
