Predictions for azimuthal anisotroy in Xe+Xe collisions at = 5.44 ev using a multihase transort model Sushanta riathy, Sudian De, Mohammed Younus, and Raghunath Sahoo Disciline of Physics, School of Basic Sciences, Indian Institute of echnology Indore, Simrol, Indore 45355, India (Dated: December 14, 018) arxiv: v [he-h] 13 Dec 018 Xe+Xe collision at relativistic energies may rovide us with a artonic system whose size is aroximately in between those roduced by + and Pb+Pb collisions. he exerimental results on anisotroic flow in Xe+Xe and Pb+Pb collisions should rovide us with an oortunity to study system size deendence of. In the resent work, we have used AMP transort model to calculate charged articles for Xe+Xe collisions at =5.44 ev. We have also tried to demonstrate the no. of constituent quark, N q, and m scaling of the ellitic flow. We find that n q scaling of is not observed for the identified hadrons. he results from Xe+Xe collisions have also been comared to Pb+Pb collisions at = 5.0 ev. We find that flow of charged articles in (50-60)% central collisions for Xenon nuclei is almost 30% less than article flow develoed in lead ion collisions, imlying the imortant role the system size lay in develoment of article collective motion in relativistic heavy ion collisions. PACS numbers: 1.38.Mh, 5.75.Ld, 5.75.Dw I. INRODUCION he main goal of the ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions is to study the matter at high temerature and density where quantum chromodynamics redict the existence of the quark-gluon lasma (QGP) [1] under such extreme conditions. Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are the dedicated state-of-the-art exerimental facilities to this end and are focused to understand the roerties of QGP. Anisotroic flow as an observable of QGP, is caused by the initial asymmetries in the geometry of the system roduced in any non-central collision, and lays an imortant role to understand the collective motion and bulk roerty of the QGP. he ellitic flow or azimuthal anisotroy ( ), which is defined as the second-order Fourier comonent of the article azimuthal distribution rovides information about the equation of state, initial geometrical anisotroy and the transort roerties of created QGP []. he ellitic flow has been intensively studied at RHIC and LHC for different systems like Au + Au, Cu + Cu and Pb + Pb at different center of mass energies from 7.7 GeV to 5.0 ev. From many of the measurements from these revious exeriments we have seen that has contributed significantly to the characterization of the system created in heavy-ion collisions as it is sensitive to the roerties of the system at an early time of its evolution. Earlier RHIC exeriments show that at low transverse momentum ( ) region ( < GeV/c), follows the mass ordering i.e. higher mass articles having lower values [3 ]. Another imortant feature of is the the number of constituent quark (NCQ) scaling, where and of identified hadrons are divided by the number of constituent quarks (n q ). Corresonding author: Raghunath.Sahoo@cern.ch his scaling interrets the dominance of the quark degrees of freedom at early stages of the collision. Recently LHC shows similar mass ordering of at low- but it seems that does not follow the NCQ scaling at LHC energies [11, 1] for intermediate or high momentum. It would be very interesting to study these roerties of in QGP medium with varying satial configurations and densities etc. of artons, which can be achieved by relativistic collisions of different secies of ions with a large variation of mass number at same centre of mass energy. Recently LHC has collided Xe 19 nuclei at = 5.44 ev. Since the mass number of the Xe 19 nuclei is roughly in middle roton and Pb 08 nuclei, this can rovide the unique oortunity to study the system-size deendence of ellitic flow at LHC energies. According to the recent hydrodynamical calculation [13], is found larger by 5% in Xe + Xe than in Pb + Pb collisions in 0-5% centrality class but it is smaller by % above 30% centrality classes. An earlier rediction from A Multi- Phase ransort (AMP) model suggests that the NCQ scaling will hold when we consider much smaller system than Pb + Pb, which has shown that the number of constituent quarks (NCQ), n q scaling holds for Si + Si collisions at =.76 ev much better than that of Pb + Pb collisions at same energy [14]. Hence, It is also exected that NCQ scaling will also hold true for in Xe+Xe collisions. As exected, this may also indicate the formation of artonic system in Xenon nuclei collisions similar to Au+Au or Pb+Pb collisions. herefore the study of will be very interesting at LHC energies with smaller system size. In this article we have studied the of roduced articles in Xe + Xe collisions at snn = 5.44 ev using A Multi-Phase ransort model (AMP) with string melting version [15, 16]. he aer is organized as follows. he next section briefly deals with the AMP model we are using to calculate of charged articles. his is followed by section on results and their discussion. We then conclude our
aer by summarizing our results and findings in the conclusions. -1 dη d N N ev d = 5.44 ev (0-5)% - π + +π ( ) + - K +K ( ) + 3 FIG. 1: (Color online) sectra of π, K and for (0-5)% centrality in Xe+Xe collisions. A MULI-PHASE RANSPOR (AMP) MODEL = 5.44 ev (50-60)% σ gg = 3 mb = mb σ gg η AMP is a hybrid transort model which contains four comonents namely, initialization of collisions, arton transort after initialization, hadronization mechanism and hadron transort [17]. he initialization of the model follows HIJING model [18] and calculates the differential cross-section of the roduced minijet articles in + collisions which is given by, dσ d dy 1 dy = K a,b dˆσ ab dˆt x 1 f a (x 1, 1) x f (x, ), (1) where σ is the roduced articles cross-section and ˆt is the momentum transfer during artonic interactions in + collisions. x i s are the momentum fraction of the mother rotons which are carried by interacting artons and f(x, ) s are the arton density functions(pdf). he roduced artons calculated in + collisions is then converted into A + A and + A collisions by incororating arametrized shadowing function and nuclear overla function using inbuilt Glauber model within HIJING. Similarly, initial low-momentum artons which are searated from high momenta artons by momentum cut-off, are roduced from arametrized coloured string fragmentations mechanisms. he roduced articles are initiated into arton transort art, ZPC [19], which transort the quarks and gluons using Boltzmann transort equation which is given by, FIG. : (Color online) Charged articles vs. transverse momentum, (a), and seudo-raidity, η (b). Different symbols are for σ gg=3 mb and mb. µ µ f(x,, t) = C[f] () he leading order equation showing interactions among artons is aroximately given by, dˆσ gg dˆt 9πα s (ˆt µ ). (3) Here σ gg is the gluon scattering cross-section, α s is the strong couling constant used in above equation, and µ is the cutoff used to avoid infrared divergences which can occur if the momentum transfer, ˆt, goes to zero during scattering. In the String Melting version of AMP (), melting of coloured strings into low momentum artons also take lace at the start of the ZPC and are calculated using Lund FRIIOF model of HI- JING. his melting henomenon deends uon sin and flavour of the excited strings. he resulting artons undergo multile scatterings which take lace when any two artons are within distance of minimum aroach which is given by d σ/π, where σ is the scattering crosssection of the artons. As of resent, uses three-momentum conservation and the invariant masses of the coalescing artons. he coalescence takes lace using the following equation (for e.g. meson), d 3 N d 3 = g M M d 3 x 1 d 3 x d 3 1 d 3 f q ( x 1, 1 )f q ( x, ) δ 3 ( M 1 ) f M ( x 1 x, 1 ). (4)
4 Here g M is the meson degeneracy factor, f q s are the quark distributions after the evolution, and f M is the coalescing function commonly called Wigner functions [1]. he roduced hadrons further undergo evolution in AR mechanism [, 3] via meson-meson, meson-baryon and baryon-baryon interactions, before final sectra can be observed. here is another default version of AMP known as AMP-Def where instead of coalescing the artons, fragmentation mechanism using Lund fragmentation arameters a and b are used for hadronizing the transorted artons. However, it is believed that article flow and sectra at the mid- regions are well exlained by quark coalescence mechanism for hadronization [4 6]. We have used mode for our calculations. We have used the AMP version.6t7 (released: 8//016) in our current work. Before we start discussing about, it is imortant to have a look into the sectra of the roduced articles such as π, K, and. Fig. 1 shows sectra of π, K, and for (0-5)% centrality. he error bars in the data oints are the statistical uncertainties. he sectra of ions and kaons are multilied by different constant factors to get a clear view of each sectrum. his rovides a very good baseline to study the sectra of identified articles in exeriment for Xe+Xe collisions. It is worthwhile to mention that earlier studies of article in Pb+Pb collisions with AMP showed greater match with exerimental data when large artonic scattering cross-section (σ gg mb) is taken [7]. In fig., we have shown azimuthal anisotroy or ellitic flow of charged articles,, as functions of transverse momentum,, and raidity, η for two values of scattering crosssections, σ gg = 3 mb and mb. As exected, results with mb shows greater than 3 mb. In case of as variable, the flow increases more with transverse momentum in mb scenario than 3 mb. While, taking raidity, η, as the variable, the difference in mb and 3 mb results can be seen as a constant multilication factor, articularly in the central raidity region. In the resent work we have fixed σ gg = mb as cross-section for our calculations and calculated charged article. he Lund string fragmentation arameters a and b are ket fixed at their default values of. and 0.5/GeV, resectively. We will comare our results with the exerimental data when it becomes available and further otimise the arameters. he anisotroic flow can be characterized by the coefficients (v n ), which are obtained from a Fourier exansion of the momentum distribution of the charged articles and is given by, E d3 N d 3 = d ( N 1 + π d dy n=1 ) v n cos[n(φ ψ n )], (5) where φ is the azimuthal angle in the transverse momentum lane and ψ n is the n th harmonic event lane angle [8]. In the current work ellitic flow is calculated with resect to the reaction lane by taking ψ n = 0, which imlies event lane coincides with the reaction lane. aking n = gives the second order harmonics in the exansion and its coefficient, is calculated to rovide the measure of the ellitic flow or azimuthal anisotroy. For a given raidity window the is defined as: = cos(φ) (6) For non-central collisions the should be non-zero finite quantity. 5 = 5.44 ev (50-60)% Pion (π + ) + Kaon (K ) Proton 0 FIG. 6: (Color online) vs. transverse momentum, of π, K and for (50-60)% centrality in Xe+Xe collisions. RESULS AND DISCUSSIONS We have calculated charged articles ellitic flow or azimuthal anisotroy, for various centralities, namely, (0-5)%, (-0)%, (0-30)%, (50-60)%, (60-70)% centrality classes. Results are resented for 0 < <.7 GeV/c in midraidity region ( η < 0.8). It is believed that Xe nucleus is moderately deformed. Earlier theoretical studies [13] on central collisions ( (0-15)%) of Xe nuclei have shown that incororating deformation arameters cause about 15% deviation in comared to non-deformed cases. Beyond 15% centrality, it is claimed that the deformity has no discernible effects on article sectra or other observables. In the resent work as the first aroximation, we haven t used any deformation for Xenon nuclei. Most of the results are shown for the above mentioned centralities for Xe+Xe collisions at = 5.44 ev. In fig.3, we have shown ellitic flow of charged articles for six different centralities. For the most central collision (0-5%), the calculated is minimum. he el-

However we see that the difference between (0-30)% and (30-40)% is small. In (50-60)% onwards, we have a decreasing trend in the flow and smaller, which continues to decrease for more eriheral collisions. We feel that this might be due to formation of smaller system in eriheral collisions at which although we have more geometrical anisotroy, the medium density is very small and robability of formation of collective motion decreases. Fig.4 shows transverse momentum integrated with the centrality in the range mentioned above. As exected, a strong deendence of with centrality is observed. It is quite evident from this figure that increases from most central to mid-central collisions. Beyond that as we move towards eriheral collisions the flow decreases raidly. Similar behaviour of the charged article ellitic flow has also been observed for Pb-Pb collisions at LHC energies [9]. Earlier calculations with hydrodynamical models give similar ictures of ellitic flow with centrality. However, our calculations underestimate the results of hydrodynamics roughly by (13-30)% [13]. q (b) We will continue to otimise the AMP arameters like σ gg, a and b in accordance with the ucoming exerimental data and study the centrality deendencies of article flow for Xe nuclei collisions in our future works, which in turn will hel in studying other observables of greater imortance in order to characterize the systems formed in Xe+Xe collisions. However, the recent exerimental data do not have results beyond 70% centrality. he statistics are too low. With a urose to study the effects of anisotroy at the eriheral collisions with sufficient statistics, we have used a big centrality range of 70-0%. he shows a very small value at most eriheral collisions in AMP scenario. We feel that although the satial anisotroy is largest for the eriheral collisions, the medium density is too small to rovide any collective flow effects and the interactions among artons are less. In fig.5, we have comared of charged articles in Pb+Pb collisions at = 5.0 ev with Xe+Xe collisions at = 5.44 ev at midraidity ( η < 0.8) using same configurations in the AMP model. he available collisions energies for these two different systems are close to each other and hence we may be able to discern various roerties of QGP which deend on system sizes. he deendence of ellitic flow on the system size is quite evident from the lot, as from Xe+Xe is always different from Pb+Pb collisions. For (50-60)% centrality, the anisotroic flow is more in Pb system than that of Xe. he difference increases toward higher and around 30% higher is observed in Pb system. We would like to re-iterate that inclusion of intrinsic deformations for Xenon nuclei in the calculations may change many of the above features of observables and their comarative studies. We will continue to investigate this articular feature and reort in our future works. Fig.6 shows for π, K, and uto =.7 GeV/c for (50-60)% centrality. A clear mass deendency of hadrons ( ) is observed for < GeV/c as it has been observed in Pb-Pb collisions [11, 9] earlier. Lower mass articles have higher. In articular, the ions and kaons show slightly more flow than roton for <.0 GeV/c, whereas afterwards roton takes over the ions and kaons. According to the hydrodynamical calculations there is an interlay between radial and ellitic flow which may lay an imortant role in determining this mass-ordering of at low-. For > GeV/c is searated according to baryons and mesons. he quarkcoalescence mechanisms, [4, 5] which is able to exlain flow at the intermediate or moderate ranges has been considered for hadronization in model used in our calculations. Within AMP mechanisms, when a quark and an antiquark are close in hase sace with their momenta very close to each other, they coalesce to form a meson. Similarly when three quarks come closer in hase sace, they recombine to form a baryon. Since we assume that coalescence mechanism should work in the intermediate region, the calculated ellitic flow of charged hadrons when divided by their coalesced constituent quark numbers,
6 may exhibit n q scaling behaviour. In fig.7 (a), we have shown number of constituent quarks, n q, scaling of for π, K, and for (50-60)% centrality. In resent work, it is calculated as, v h ( ) = n q.v q ( /n q ), (7) where n q is the number of constituent quarks for the charged hadrons considered in our work. However, the figure doesn t demonstrate the n q scaling behaviour. We observe that scaled for rotons doesn t match with those of mesons, π and K. Such violation of n q scaling has been observed for charged articles in Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC energies [11]. In fig.7 (b), we tried to demonstrate n q scaling of the articles flow, where instead of along x-axis, we have (m m 0 )/n q, where m = + m 0. We find that the /n q values as a function of (m m 0 )/n q show a scaling like behaviour which is similar to the observations for Pb+Pb collisions at LHC energies [8]. However, we can not state conclusively that n q scaling is observed although something similar to m scaling can be seen at low-momenta. he reason behind the failed n q scaling may be due to the artons forming baryons occuying different hase sace as comared to artons forming mesons. he study of the correlation of the relaxation and freeze-out times with the flow may shed some light on the difference in the flow among quarks at the artonic level [30]. his calls for a more deeer understanding of the relaxation of the bulk system of quarks and gluons. IV. SUMMARY Xe+Xe collision may rovide us with a artonic system whose size is aroximately in between those roduced by + and Pb+Pb collisions. he exerimental results on anisotroic flow in Xe+Xe and Pb+Pb collisions should rovide us with an oortunity to study system size deendence of at the aroximately same collision energies. In the resent work we have used model to calculate charged articles for Xe+Xe collisions at =5.44 ev at mid-raidity region η < 0.8 in 0 < <.7 GeV/c. A strong centrality deendence of the is observed. differential is measured for identified articles such as, ions, kaons and rotons and a clear mass ordering is observed for < GeV/c. We have also tried to demonstrate the number of constituent quarks, n q of the ellitic flow as a function of /n q as well as with resect to (m m 0 )/n q. We find that n q scaling of is not observed for tyes of charged articles used for our studies. Also we haven t used any intrinsic deformations as a first aroximation referring to earlier works, which suggest its small influence on observed article sectra and beyond 15% centrality collisions. However, most of the results are resented for (50-60)% centrality bin where we do not exect the effects due to deformations. underestimates the exerimental results at higher ( > 1 GeV/c) with default arameters. It suggests that one needs to tune the arameters to reroduce the exerimental results. his study rovides a baseline for the recent exerimental results. his is discussed in the Aendix. V. APPENDIX Recently ALICE has ublished the measurements of charged articles in Xe+Xe collisions at = 5.44 ev [31] using two-article correlations based on cumulant method [3]. Fig. 8 (in aendix) shows the comarison of vs between data and model for 50-60% centrality bin. It is found that AMP result matches with data well at low region ( < 1 GeV/c). Difference between data and AMP increases as we go towards higher. As there was no exerimental results available before, we took the default arameter settings of as it is mentioned in section II. It seems that to reroduce these latest exerimental results, articularly at higher one needs to tune the arameters of model. It should be noted here that the methods adoted in this aer and in the ALICE exerimental aer for the measurement/estimation of are different. We have used the event lane method, whereas the exerimental measurement uses the cumulant method. However, as discussed in Ref. [3] both the methods give similar -results. [1] S. A. Bass, M.
