Outline Introduction to Padre ArcGIS for Pre-field Planning Field Data Collection In-Office Data Entry Data Processing Analysis Conclusions

In-Field Locating with GIS Maps Site Maps locate ³ FEET explorations in the field. Area 2

Field Data Collection After the exploration location is located, Padre sets up for data collection Padre collects, categorizes, and logs collected soil samples

Outline Introduction to Padre ArcGIS for Pre-field Planning Field Data Collection In-Office Data Entry Data Processing Analysis Conclusions

Back in the Office. Samples are sent for lab analysis Subsurface data collected in the field is entered in the office into gint to organize survey, lithology, sample types, and lab data for export to GIS

gint Subsurface data management reporting software Manages borehole, well logs, CPT, and geophysical logs. Creates fence diagrams, graphs, tables, etc. from entered lithologic, sample, and lab data

Back in the Office. gint is comprised of a parent table with coordinates of each drill hole is linked to child tables

Back in the Office..containing lab data

Back in the Office. and lithologic data that can be plotted on the crosssection in ArcMap based on coordinate and elevation data.

SURFACE Topographic survey added into the gint as a TIN

Outline Introduction to Padre ArcGIS for Pre-field Planning Field Data Collection In-Office Data Entry Data Processing Analysis Conclusions

In ArcMap The gint toolbar is used to select cross-section B-B to run. Area 1 Area 2 Area 3

In ArcMap Drill holes to display on B-B are selected gint selection arrow used to highlight B-B and select Output Fence Report with Selected Boreholes Area 1 Area 2 Area 3

Back to gint The Output Fence Report opens the gint Output table. Coordinates for B-B will already be populated in the Baseline Coordinate box.

gint Export to dxf Set the scale, axes, and select the TIN(s) to display on B-B. Export B-B to a DXF.

Convert DXF to GDB In ArcMap

CAD to Geodatabase Designate a location to save the geodatabase. Set the Reference Scale to 10, the default will result in fractions.

Outline Introduction to Padre ArcGIS for Pre-field Planning Field Data Collection In-Office Data Entry Data Processing Analysis Conclusions

Plan and Cross-Section Views Area 1 Area 2 Set to the same scale: 1 inch = 40 feet

Plan and Cross-Section Views Area 2 Plan view and crosssection are the same scale Features in the plan view are projected 1:1 in the cross-section. Blue line highlights the intersection of A-A with B-B.

Cross-Section View Lab data displayed on B-B based on coordinates and elevations of the sample.

Cross-Section View Projection distance calculated in GIS with Linear Referencing toolbar Depth of well screen and drill hole lithology material graphics Lab and lithology data from gint PID TPH data C4-C12

Cross-Section View Changes in contaminant concentration vary laterally and with depth

Plume Mapping Extent of the contaminant plume mapped in RED based on lab data

Plume Mapping Area 1 Area 2 Same scale, so contaminant plume projected onto surface.

Outline Introduction to Padre ArcGIS for Pre-field Planning Field Data Collection In-Office Data Entry Data Processing Analysis Conclusions

Conclusion Area 1 Area 2 GIS and gint are used together to accurately map contaminant plumes for site clean-up programs and to show progress over time. Red = Current Brown = Historical
