6 1. Modernization Of Saint Lucia s Survey/Mapping Infrastructure Moderniza:on of coordinate system framework for Saint Lucia to u:lize GPS/GNSS (global naviga*on satellite system) technology and to allow for data interoperability between exis:ng coordinate systems. This will allow surveyors and other mapping agencies to obtain precise GPS coordinates both in real- :me and post processing. Connec:ng local grid to WGS84 will allow for data to be converted to GPS observable coordinates.

7 2. Extension of Geodetic Network (additon of CORS Stations) Addi:onal 3 CORS Sta:ons in Micoud, Choisuel and Dennery to improve data quality on Geode:c/Survey Infrastructure. GPS Coverage is weak in these area and addi:onal sta:ons will boost signal strength.

9 3. Procurement of GIS/GPS Equipment Procurement of Trimble Hand Held GPS devices. This will help to build GIS capacity within the Ministry of Physical Development and other agencies involved in data gathering. Procurement of higher end devices will allow for more accurate readings and data quality. Devices include Trimble GEOXH6000 and Juno SD with so[ware

10 4. Training For Staff in Use Of Trimble GIS Equipment The Ministry of Physical Development has over the years procured various Trimble devices. Spa:al Innovision Ltd has set up the devices. The staff have of the ministry are not adequately trained in the use of the equipment. This training is geared at addressing this problem. The standardiza:on of equipment and training will help to facilitate seamless rollout to other agencies who will be building their GIS capacity.

11 5. Training - GIS Principles, ArcGIS Software/Open Source GIS A handful of individuals in the Ministry have received formal training in GIS. The course will help educate staff in the important areas of GIS, Catography, Geo- Referencing and Digi:zing, GPS- GIS Integra:on into Google Earth and ArcGIS, Coordinate Systems and Reprojec:ons, Spa:al 2D and 3D Modeling, Geo- Coding, Survey Manipula:on and integra:on into GIS etc.

12 6. Procurement of Software Procurement of GIS and CAD so[ware to solve problems with piracy whilst the op:on of open source is being evaluated. 7. Hiring Of GeoData Coordinator Hired to collaborate all efforts and ac:vi:es related to the establishment of data sharing plaeorm (in support of GeoNode).
