The major species association is Eucalyptus leucoxylon grassy woodland. These plantings will substantially buffer the remnant vegetation along the creek and link neighbouring property remnants. Species Planted on the Site: Acacia sp dodonaeafolia, melanoxylon, paradoxa, pycnantha, retinodes, rupicola Allocasuarina sp: verticillata, muelleriana, striata Banksia marginata Callistemon species: rugulosis, sieberi Callitris gracilis Dodonaea viscosa spatulata Eucalyptus sp : fasciculosa, leucoxylon, viminalis cygnetensis Leptospermum lanigerum Melaleuca lanceolata Xanthorrhoea semiplana
2 Planting location on site: Kangaroos playing amongst the revegetation on the property (02-Sep-14)
3 Site Update, January 2015 Overall the site is progressing well. Five of the 8 distinct planting areas have reached or surpassed their expected plant establishment. There are three areas of approximately 3ha that have not reached their full expected potential but are continuing to improve. The Landholders are actively managing the site, thinning some dense establishment, slashing and spraying phalaris and other grassy weeds to allow improvement in the understorey. General site photos Phalaris weedy grass after being spot sprayed (02-Sep-14) Revegetation around the dam (02-Sep-14) Acacia pycnantha (Golden wattle) in full flower (02-Sep-14) Landowner Ruth in an area under active management (02- Sep-14) Photopoints: Photo point monitoring is an invaluable tool to visually map the changing landscape over long periods of time. It captures seasonal changes, weed growth and changes in weed composition, and importantly the growth of revegetation and structural changes among the various species in any given species association that is being established. Whilst changes in the short term can be subtle and relatively slow it is important to continue monitoring to capture these events over the establishment phase in revegetation projects where outcomes such as carbon absorption are an imperative.
