Phoenix Orchids Plant List Updated: 4/7/14 Phalaenopsis Stem Propagations Phal. Ambo Buddha Phoenix FCC/CCE/AOS (Brother Buddha x amboinensis) A spectacular plant with vivid nonfading color. This plant will grow keikis at its base quite freely and makes quite a specimen plant when well grown. This is the only cultivar of the cross to receive a CCE and when it did, it carried 40 flowers and eight buds on seven branched spikes! Natural Spread 7.1 cm. Blooming size. $100 Phal. Andalusia 'Eugene Maduro' AM/AOS (Aruba x violacea) An absolutely incredible flower! Large and full formed for the cross, the flowers are brilliant, bright purple with heavy substance. This plant is a phenomenal breeder of purple flowers and has produced 10 awarded progeny for us plus two AQs. Natural Spread 6.5 cm. Old spikes will rebloom. Only one blooming size plant. $200 Phal. An Tai Spot Mary AM/AOS (Paifang s Queen x John Ewing) We received an Award of Quality on this cross and all the awarded cultivars are robust growing plants that will keiki at their bases making great specimen plants. In addition, the flowers have a wonderful sweet fragrance and last a long time. This plant received the highest point score of the cross 84 points - and had seventeen flowers and 10 buds on four inflorescences (two branched) when awarded. A fertile pollen/pod parent and possible tetraploid. Natural Spread 6.6 cm. Only one blooming size keiki. $250 1
Phal. An Tai Spot Splotchy #2 AM/AOS (Paifang s Queen x John Ewing) We received an Award of Quality on this cross and all the awarded cultivars are robust growing plants that will keiki at their bases making great specimen plants. In addition, the flowers have a wonderful sweet fragrance and last a long time. When the cross received the AQ, the flowers of this plant were the judge s favorite. Natural Spread 6.0 cm. Only one blooming size plant. $100 Phal. bellina Ponkan AM/AOS (species) This is still a very high quality example of the species and it has proven to be an extraordinary breeder having produced an AQ, several AMs and an FCC for Krull-Smith. When awarded it carried 5 flowers and three buds on two spikes. Fragrant. Natural spread 5.5 cm. Blooming size. $250 Note: The photo shows a very exceptional blooming which we have attained only once. Phal. Bev Tall Golden Ruby (Mary Lilian Taylor x Zuma Garnet) This unusual flower is red on the front and deep yellow on the back. $100 Phal. Coral Isles Lung Ching AM/AOS (Princess Kaiulani x lueddemanniana) This is one of only two awarded cultivars and in our opinion is the best. When awarded it had 12 flowers and 8 buds on three spikes with a new spike emerging. Fragrant. Natural Spread 6.0 cm. Blooming size. $200 2
Phal. Corningiana Carol HCC/AOS (species) A very good example of the species. When awarded this plant had 18 flowers and 5 buds on 4 spikes. Blooming size. $150 Phal. Dotty Woodson Claudette HCC/AOS (Tabasco Tex x George Vasquez) This is one of only two awarded cultivars and in our opinion it s the better of the two. When awarded it had 6 flowers and 5 buds on two spikes. It has bred one awarded progeny for us and we are continuing to use it in our breeding program. Old spikes will rebloom. Fragrant. Natural spread 5.1 cm. Blooming size. $200 Phal. Dotty Woodson Orchidland (Tabasco Tex x George Vasquez) We think this is one of the finest cultivars of the cross. The flowers are very dark purple and fragrant. We believe that Phal. Dotty Woodson will prove to be a better breeder than Phal. George Vasquez and are using this plant in our breeding program with very good results. Old spikes will rebloom. Only one blooming size plant. $200 Phal. (gersenii x venosa) JL#1 A beautiful and interesting unnamed primary hybrid. Under our conditions, this plant forms basal keikis, so has the potential to become a striking specimen plant. $175. 3
Phal. Guadalupe Pineda Golden Flame (bellina x amboinensis) This plant used to be considered Phal. Princess Kaiulani, but taxonomic revision of violacea to bellina caused the name change. A very nice example of this important cross. The flowers are yellow, overlaid with magenta giving an orange appearance. This plant is a good breeder and has produced several awarded progeny for us plus an AQ. Fragrant. Only 1 blooming size plant. $125 Phal. Harford's Gem 'Amber Fire' HCC/AOS (amboinensis x Annapolis) The flowers of this plant are very unusual in that the red patterning on each flower is slightly different (as shown in the photo). When awarded it had 9 flowers and 3 buds, so makes a nice display. Natural Spread 5.0 cm. Old spikes will rebloom. Fragrant. Blooming size. $150 Phal. John Ewing KFO CCM/AOS (George Vasquez x venosa) A fine form of the cross and a vigorous grower. When awarded this plant had 15 flowers and 7 buds on 11 branched spikes. It tends to produce basal keikis and can be grow into a beautiful specimen plant. Fragrant. Natural spread 5.2 cm. Only one blooming size plant. $150 Phal. Joy Spring Canary Rainbow (Buena Jewel x Yungho Gelb Canary) Most of the cultivars from this cross have flowers that are yellow with white lips making this a very colorful form of this AQ cross. Old spikes will rebloom. Fragrant. Only one blooming size plant. $125 4
Phal. Kung s Princess Lena CCM/AOS (Princess Kaiulani x venosa) When it received the CCM this plant had 38 flowers and one bud on 9 spikes! Fragrant. Natural spread 4.7 cm. Only one blooming size plant. $150 Phal. Kuntrarti Rarashati Bunker Hill (equestris x venosa) A tetraploid form of the cross that is proving to be a useful parten. Fragrant. Blooming size. $45 Phal. Kuntrarti Rarashati Copperstate HCC/AOS (equestris x venosa) A very floriferous multifloral that carried 39 flowers on 6 inflorescences when awarded. This is one of only 2 awarded cultivars of the grex and the flowers are fragrant. The plant tends to produce keikis from the old flower spikes. A charming multifloral with a compact growth habit. Natural Spread 3.2 cm. Blooming size. $25 Phal. Mem. David Goo Garnet (Sweet Memory x Zuma Garnet) We are happy to be able to offer this plant for the very first time. This is the darkest one of the cross that we have bloomed and is a personal favorite. Fragrant. Blooming size. $100 5
Phal. Mem. Don Tauscher Purple Beauty AM/AOS (Andalusia x Crimson Cape) A stunning purple with heavy substance that is among the best of our Andalusia breeding. Old spikes will rebloom. Don t cut off the old spikes as they will rebloom. Natural spread about 5.3 cm. Only one blooming size plant. $40 Phal.
