2 ISPRA - RMN Italian Tide Gauge Network
3 ISPRA - RMN Italian Tide Gauge Network measures sea levels, tides ranges and seiches; Marine metereological network of the Italian coasts; Network to the detection, characterisation and propagation of early tidal waves (tsunami) and storm tides; Network to the qualitative characterisation of environmentally sensitive marine areas.
4 ISPRA - RMN Italian Tide Gauge Network encompasses 36 tide gauges g scattered across the Italian peninsula and placed mainly within harbours. All the tide gauges sensors measure sea level by means of microwave radar sensor and shaft-encoder sensor and since 1998 by the old ultrasound hydrometer sensors; Tide gauges stations are provided with anemometer (wind speed and direction at 10m), barometer, thermometer and hygrometer; 9 stations monitor specifically anomalous waves using a higher frequency (every 1 minute) in sea level measurements (e.g. Naples, Imperia, Carloforte, Porto Empedocles and Otranto) and transmit data with IRIDIUM technology; 10 stations placed in open harbours, are provided with a multiparametric probe to the water quality detection. Parameters measured are sea surface temperature, ph, conductivity and redox. Data collected by the Italian Tide Gauge Network are made available to the IOC.

6 Italian Data Buoy Network
7 Italian Buoy Network is an infrastructure in service of the National scientific community since Data produced are essential to: Planning of coastal defence works (e.g. harbours, breakwaters, roads, railways); Coastal erosion monitoring; European models validation to the forecasting of sea motion within Mediterranean Sea; Implementation of sailing safety; Understanding implementation of ocean and atmosphere bio-physical phenomena.
8 Italian Buoy Network encompasses 15 buoys scattered across the Italian shores and deployed at fixed locations at a depth of 100m Buoysy areflagged on the nautical maps and are moored in areas where navigation is restricted within a 250m radius, buoys are radar sensitive and visible from a distance of 3nm Each buoy (Axys Watchkeeper) has a diameter of 1.7m and a height on the waterline of 2m Each buoy is provided with a very high precision solid-state directional wavemeter, with a complete meteorological station and a sea surface temperature thermometer. Some buoys are equipped with a surface water conductivity sensor
