In the next two weeks, the 2 agencies will be reviewing and hopefully fixing the issues. The street lamps from block of Montopolis and surrounding area will be out until further notice, TXDOT has taken these lights offline due to construction. If you receive a call with regards to the issues, please enter a feedback to Client Relations and Information Services for possible escalation. *NOTE to Ambassadors TASAJILLO TRL and the surrounding streets are located inside of a gated community. The street lights belong to Pedernales Electric Company. We should not be entering street light SR s for this area. Please direct citizens calling regarding this street to PEC. 2 Tree Obstructing Street Light If the tree is damaging the Street Light submit Street Light Issue Address SR or Street Light Issue Multiple Streets/Poles SR. If the tree is simply obstructing the light, change to Tree/ROW Maintenance Issue GENERAL INFORMATION Street light pole numbers are 6 digits and starts with an 2, 3 or 4 For Street Lighting along a Toll Road see the Toll Road Info Sheet Street lights on/off by Mopac/Town Lake area are handled by the Toll Authority. Please do not enter a service request for street lighting. See the Toll Road Info Sheet If there is a known outage and APD or a citizen calls in stating that a street light is out due to the outage, advise that once power is restored, the street light should come back on. If the citizen is calling to report multiple lights out on multiple streets: If they are in different neighborhoods: multiple SRs If they are all in the same neighborhood: One SR. In the notes on the SR if it states that the street light is handled by another company, for example: PEC (Pedernales Electric Company) those requests are faxed over to them by Joyce Shepard Austin Energy s Illumination division provides street lighting for the City of Austin as well as Nightwatchman Lights Austin Energy maintains street lights inside and outside the City limits. They do maintain lights on highways. However, lights on Mopac between the river and Parmer lane are now maintained by the MOPAC Improvement Project at Austin has decorative lights throughout the city (example: vintage lights on 6th street), these are handled by Austin Energy Illumination department Questions about the purchasing of street lights contact AE Purchasing at

3 Street Lighting request via will be automatically forwarded to Austin and will be entered into the system. Sometimes after a major storm, there are numerous street lights that need repair. There are specific trucks and equipment that are needed to repair street lights. It is NOT considered an emergency and repairs take place during regular business hours. To acquire broken Street Light Poles direct citizen to City Reclamation Yard They are located at 906 Justin Lane Austin, Texas There is Obelisk located along 7 th St. if the light is out on one of these, you will need to submit an AE Call Ticket. The obelisk are located at: E. 7 Robert T Pleasant Valley Nitrogen Containers that are attached to utility boxes and poles are used to dry the moisture out of signal wire conduit, power line conduit and electronic equipment that may be sensitive to moisture. SERVICE REQUEST NOTE: AE will not go out when the customer says well it is down this street about 2 or 3 lights. Must have specific addresses If a citizen is requesting to have a working streetlight upgraded (new LED Bulbs) please enter a Street Lighting- General SR. Once this is done the AE Illumination Group will research the request to see if an upgrade is currently available. Please provide as much information on the location of the lamp as possible. Request for NEW street lights, submit Street Lights New SR (including a new street light on a Signal). If a citizen is reporting a street light Issue and has an address of the where the street light is located enter a Street Light Issue Address SR. If a citizen is reporting a street light not working but does not have an address and they do have a pole number enter a Street Light Issue- Multiple Poles/Multiple Streets SR. Some pole numbers in Circle C only have 4-digits.

4 The street lights along IH 35 from Onion Creek Parkway to Grand Avenue Parkway are owned by TxDOT but are maintained by the City of Austin. Issues regarding these lights should be reported with a Street Lighting - Address SR. For lights under bridges/overpasses enter a Street Light Issue - Address SR. Lights out in a Park are handled by Parks and Recreation enter a Park Maintenance- Grounds Electric SR (this also includes lights out on a bridge in a park) For light issues on the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge please enter a Park Maintenance Grounds Electric SR If a citizen is reporting a street light wire down, leaning pole, wires exposed, or a street light pole down/damaged, enter an AECall Trouble Ticket. If citizen reports a Moonlight Tower issue, use Street Light Issue Address SR. Please note: moonlight towers will only be repaired once the tower has 3 or more lights out; this repair requires permits and special trucks. Moonlight Towers are lighting structures designed to illuminate areas of a city at night. For more information about Moonlight Towers see: If there is graffiti on a street light, use Graffiti Abatement SR. STREET LIGHT BASE WATER ISSUES If water is bubbling up thought the base of a street light, according to Austin Energy this is not necessarily an unusual occurrence when we have a lot of rain and is not a concern for electrocution. Eventually the water might wear out some parts, but they are designed to handle water and moreover floods. If the light is not working please enter the appropriate SR. Water coming out of the base does not need to be reported to Street Lighting or ECC. NIGHTWATCHMEN Night Watchman lighting is similar to street lighting. If the light is facing the property or on the property it is a Night Watchman light, however a Night Watchman can illuminate a business and lighting the public right of way or private areas that are outside the city limits but inside the Austin Energy Area. Street Light- if the light is facing and illuminating the roadway, it is a streetlight. Only property owners can request new/additions/removal of Night Watchman lights for their property because they can grant the city an easement to the property to place/work on the streetlight.

5 Night Watchman lights cannot be requested by anyone else including law enforcement. Request for new Night Watchmen lights, submit a Street Light New SR. Citizen will be contacted back regarding an installation of new lights or having a light added to a night watchman account within 2 weeks. If citizen has not been contacted back within 2 weeks they can contact: South- Laura Anders at Northeast- Ron Solbach (From Lamar Blvd. and everything East) Northwest- Ron Solbach (From Lamar Blvd and everything West) If a citizen is requesting to turn off a night watchman please enter a Street Lighting- General SR, the citizen will be contacted by someone in Street Lighting. There is a charge for a night watchman light. Charges depend on the location, etc. This will be discussed with the citizen by a lighting engineer. If a citizen has a billing question about their night watchman light submit a Street Lighting General SR. HIT POLE ACTIVITY Street Lighting has an Activity called Hit Pole in the Future Repair Scheduled SR. This means that the pole is severely damaged and will have to be replaced. There are numerous types of street light poles so the type of pole damaged will determine how long it will take to be replaced. If you see that Activity, you can inform the citizen that the pole has to replaced and is on order.
