Approx. 7:50 a.m. 14Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: Our outage counts are as follows: Approximately 300 are out in the Orland area in Lake county. 100 in the town of Magnolia Minnesota, 31 in north Moody County near Ward, 26 in the Ellis area and the rest are scattered individuals around our service territory. Approx. 7:15 a.m. 14Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: We currently have approximately 550 members without power. We are monitoring the weather and will send crews out as soon as it s safe to do so. To view the map on your mobile device, go to outages.sdrea.coop Approx. 3 a.m. 14Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: Our power supplier is experiencing some outages and blinks on the transmission system in Lake County. We currently have about 300 members out of power due to this in the Orland area. Thank you for your patience as we get through this storm together. Approx. 1 a.m. 14Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: We are back down to approximately 140 members out of power: stay safe out there tonight! Approx. 1 a.m. 14Apr2018 Charles Mix Electric: Using electronic controls, we were able to close a breaker in the Geddes sub, restoring power to the Wally Johnson/Sam Schuman area south of Geddes. This will be the last progress report for the night. Crews will be up and at it again by 6:30 Saturday morning. Approx. 12:45 a.m. 14Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: Nearly 5,000 members are out of power. We currently have several substations out of power in Minnehaha County. We will update you as the storm progresses. Approx. 12:45 a.m. 14Apr2018 Charles Mix Electric: More good news! Power restored to Janet Evans service and approx 20 others on that line north of Lake Andes at approx 12:40 a.m. Approx. 12:35 a.m. 14Apr2018 Charles Mix Electric: One last bit of progress before crews call it a night - as of 12:35 am, power restored to a stretch of line north of Lake Andes, including Bergin/Simmermon/DeJong's and others. Approx. 12:30 a.m. 14Apr2018 Charles Mix Electric: We have made the decision to pull the crews in for the evening at approx 12:30 p.m. Visibility and weather conditions have been reduced to the point where further efforts would not be productive. 3 Approx. 12:05 a.m. 14Apr2018 Charles Mix Electric: Power restored to Deb Bosma and a few others south of Armour just before midnight. Many others will need to wait till morning. TWITTER: Approx 11:30 p.m. 13April2018 Southeastern Electric: Attention members: Just another reminder that you may experience power outages and blinks though the night and during Saturday. We apologize for any inconvenience. We will do our very best to keep the power... Approx. 11 p.m. 13Apr2018 Charles Mix Electric: As of 11:00 pm, power was lost to the Armour substation. We will soon be making a decision as to how long crews will continue to work. We will do what we can for as long as we can, keeping the safety of our crews in mind. UPDATE: Armour substation back on as of 11:20 p.m. Approx. 10:40 p.m. 13Apr2018 Charles Mix Electric: Just as we learned that power had been restored to a small area along Hwy 281 south of Lake Andes, we learned of a new outage south of Wagner all the way to the river bottom (approx 10:30 p.m.) Knock on wood, have not learned of any additional broken poles at this time. Approx. 10 p.m. 13Apr2018: Central Electric: OUTAGE SUMAPRY: Throughout Friday, April 13th, we experienced a few outages due to heavy lightning and high winds. The storm conditions caused one broken pole near Emery, tree limbs through line northeast of Howard, and lightning damage near both Ethan and White Lake. Our system is not carrying any ice to our knowledge. Currently, we are experiencing outages in the eastern part of our service territory, including south Mitchell, south of Mount Vernon, and north of Farmer. Other areas are experiencing line blinking. An additional crew shifting to south and west of Lake Andes. At approx 9:50 pm, lost a phase out of the Geddes sub. Approx. 9 p.m. 13Apr2018 Charles Mix Electric: Outages are currently affecting the following locations: South and east of Lake Andes, including Lake Andes Housing area; Hwy 281 area south of Lake Andes; and Delmont & Armour areas. As of 9:00 p.m., receiving calls from south of Wagner also. Again, we are expecting repairs to take some time, so please bear with us as our guys do what they do best. Approx. 8 p.m. 13April2018 Rosebud Electric: Rosebud Electric members East of Fairfax will be without power until early next week due to poles down East of Fairfax. Members from Fairfax to the Fort Randall Dam will be affected by this outage. We will have crews working on this as soon as the weather allows. Approx. 8 p.m. 13Apr2018 Charles Mix Electric: CME is currently experiencing numerous weather-related power outages as of approx 8:00 pm "Friday the 13th". Crews are currently aware of a broken pole in the Delmont area, and a broken 3-phase pole between Lake Andes and the Ft. Randall Casino. Also, heavy winds are whipping lines together and causing outages. All crews are currently dispatched and working for you, but please be aware that this will be a lengthy situation. CME office was without power and phone service briefly, but we are up and running with office staff on hand to take your calls. Approx. 7 p.m. 13Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: Line workers have just restored power to the Kanaranzi and Ash Creek area. However, we are seeing some outages pop up in the northern portion of the service territory as well. 4 Approx. 5:45 p.m. 13April2018 Lake Region Electric: Snow and high winds are expected to persist throughout the evening in most of LREA's service territory. To report an outage, call 24/7 toll free and someone will assist you! ALWAYS remember to stay away from downed power lines. If your vehicle comes into contact with a power line STAY IN the vehicle, call 911 and wait for authorized personnel to direct you when it's safe to leave your vehicle. If a fire forces you to leave the vehicle; jump with your arms tucked into your body and feet together as far away from your vehicle without falling. Continue to jump, with your feet together, until you are at least 40 feet away. Don't ever touch the vehicle and ground at the same time. Please remember, if you are without power you NEED to call directly to LREA toll free LREA's Facebook page is not monitored 24/7. Travel will be difficult to impossible with the snow/wind continuing into Saturday morning. We want to caution our members to stay off the roads and stay in where it is warm and safe. East River Electric is having issues with their transmission lines. In the mean time we will be switching our line to restore power to all members in that area. Power should be restored with in half an hour. Approx. 3 p.m. 13Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: Power has been restored to all of Hills MN. The SVE lineworkers will continue to set poles and string wire as long as the weather allows them to do so safely! Approx. 3 p.m. 13April2018 Rosebud Electric: Due to the weather, Rosebud Electric will not be sending crews out on outages after dark. This is for the safety of our crews and the public. If you do have an outage we ask that you still report it and we will try to get to it at first light. Approx. 3 p.m. 13Apr2018: Central Electric: OUTAGE UPDATE: There is a currently an outage in Crystal Lake township southwest of Plankinton. Plankinton crew has been dispatched to this outage. Several members near Ethan experienced an outage around 12:30 P.M. today and should now be restored. The outage was caused by lightning damage to equipment. Transmission lines feeding members near Kimball and eastward are currently experiencing blinks due to the wind and weather conditions. 5 Approx. 2:45 p.m. 13Apr2018: Central Electric: OUTAGE ALERT: All members receiving power from the Wessington Springs substation as well as the town of Wessington Springs lost power around 1:56 P.M. All power should now be restored. Crews lost power to the transmission feed when attempting to reclose another line. Approx. 2:30 p.m. 13Apr2018: Dakota Energy: We have had one outage reported this afternoon as this monster storm system moves through the state. Our travel times to respond will be extended due to the low visibility and poor road conditions. Please remember to call the office and report any outages. Our after hours dispatch service is handling phone calls at this time due to our front office being closed for the rest of the day. Approx. 1:30 p.m. 13Apr2018 West River Electric West River Electric is experiencing an outage that goes from Box Elder to New Underwood affecting approximately 60 meters. We have a line crew dispatched to the area and hope to have power restored shortly. Thank you for your patience. Approx. 12:45 p.m. 13Apr2018 Lake Region Electric: The weather forecast shows that most of LREA's service territory is in a Blizzard Warning until tomorrow. Approx. 12 p.m. 13Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: Rock County Outage Update: We are continuing work to restore power and will keep you updated as the day progresses. As you know, there is a significant blizzard forecasted in the coming hours. We will continue to work as the weather allows. However, if the conditions become too dangerous for lineworkers, we will pull them out of the field to keep them safe. Thank you for supporting the men who are working out in these trying conditions. Approx. 11 a.m. 13Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: Rock County outage update: The town of Steen and a portion of HIlls has power restored. Rock County was hit hard with an early morning wind storm which took down power poles on the Sioux Valley Energy system. Approx. 10 a.m. 13Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: Rock County MN Outage Update: poles are down on the transmission line from I-90 at the Magnolia Exit. The towns of Magnolia, Kanarazni, Hills, Beaver Creek, Steen, Ash Creek, Ellsworth and Lester are out of power, along with rural areas. Approximately 770 Sioux Valley Energy members are out of power. We are working to "back-feed" power to as many members as possible to get power on. Unfortunately, the town of Magnolia will be out until the line is rebuilt. Sioux Valley has requested help from additional crews. We will try to keep you updated as much as possible as our crews work through the day to restore power. Approx. 9 a.m. 13April2018 Lacreek Electric: The bad weather has come upon us and we ask that our members stay safe and stay indoors. Current we have an outage in the Long Valley area. If you do experience an outage, check your breakers first, then if you still do not have power, call our office. We appreciate your patience while we all try to withstand this storm. Please pray for our line crew that are working in this weather. Approx. 9 a.m. 13Apr2018 Sioux Valley Energy: Approximately 770 members are out of power in the Hills, Klay and Magnolia MN area. Initial reports from the field indicate there are broken poles on the transmission line from I-90 going north and south at the Magnolia exit. 6 Approx. 8:45 a.m. 13Apr2018 Codington-Clark Electric: In case of an outage, make plans to "fill up" ahead of time! Charge your cell phone and other electronics. Fill your gas tank in case of travel delays or interruptions (and only travel unless advised otherwise). Fill your freezer and refrigerator. When full, these appliances stay colder longer. Bottles or jugs full of water act as excellent fillers and can be used as a water source in case of an emergency. 1:59 a.m. 13April2018 Black Hills Electric: ***UPDATE*** Power has been restored to Black Hills Electric's Provo substation. We will continue to monitor throughout the night in case there are more issues.
