PRESENTATIONS 2.1 Sessin n Methds SG39-1: Detailed cmparisn f Prgressive Incremental Adjustment (PIA) sequence results invlving adjustments f spectral indices and clant density effects n the basis f the SG33 benchmark S. Pellni presented results using different sequences f PIA methdlgy t test the impact f simultaneus assimilatin versus the incremental adjustment, the imprtance f iteratins and the effect f reversed rder in the sequences. Clearly, this analysis will permit t reject the adjustment when it depends n the sequence. This incnsistency can be explained because there are cnflicting effects between different steps, and/r the psteriri sensitivity cefficients are als dependent f the sequence. G. Palmitti remarked the imprtance f the rder in the sequences. He als mentined that the trend in χ 2 culd shw the reliability f the PIA technique, and the imprtance t see the change f the sensitivities in the iterative prcess. 2
3 SG39-2: ND assessment alternatives: Validatin matrix vs XS adjustment First, E. Ivanv presented a general verview and general remarks n validatin cnceptual system. The traditinal apprach and data assimilatin was discussed. It was remarked the imprtance f integral experiments (IEs) crrelatins and the prgressive apprach using dedicated IEs. It was shwn hw in the Bayesian methdlgy, the parameters t determine the Bias and the Uncertainty f the Bias are different. The incnsistency t predict the sensitivity cefficients with different cmputatin apprach wuld affect these calculatins. Different metrics, such as the uncertainty reductin factrs r the bias ranking factrs, can be used t measure the uncertainty reductin f prir uncertainty giving enugh infrmatin fr validatin f nuclear data and criteria f the selectin f integral experiments. M. Salvatres pinted ut the imprtance f this wrk t prvide guidelines r prtcls t select benchmarks and hw t use sensitivities. SG39-3: Implementatin f Resnance Parameter Sensitivity Cefficients Calculatin in CE TSUNAMI-3D V. Sbes presented the implementatin f the resnance parameter sensitivity cefficients in CE TSUNAMI-3D. The main advantages f this methdlgy lie in a cntinuus energy physics treatment and the calculatin f resnance parameters n-the fly. In additin, the Dppler bradening can be perfrmed analytically allwing fr n the fly temperature calculatin. 2.2 Sessin n Experiment analysis, sensitivity calculatins and benchmarks SG39-4: Benchmark tests f ENDF/B-VIII.0 beta 1 using sdium vid reactivity wrth f FCA-XXVII-1 assembly K. Ykyama, (in place f M. Fukushima, JAEA), presented the sdium-vid reactivity wrth f FCA XXVII-1 benchmark with high sensitivity t 235 U capture crss sectin arund 3 kev. Replacement frm ENDF/B-VII.1 t ENDF/B-VIII.0b1 increases vid reactivity wrth with a very high imprvement mainly caused by lwer 235 U capture arund kev regin, ~ 20% smaller. 2.3 Sessin n Adjustments SG39-5 Crss-sectin adjustment based n JENDL-4.0 using new experiments n the basis f the SG33 benchmark K. Ykyama presented the crss-sectin adjustment adding fur additinal integral experiments (PROTEUS 7 and 8, SNEAK 7A and 7B) n the basis f the twenty SG33 benchmarks. C/E values are cnverted int thse with JENDL-4.0 using sensitivity cefficients. It can be seen that the additin f PROTEUS wrsens the C/E values f ZPPR-9 sdium vid wrth. This effect is mainly caused by adjusting 238 U inelastic scattering crsssectin. Fr the mst imprtant crss-sectins, the change due t different evaluatins (ENDF/B-VII.1, VIII.0b1, VIII.0b3 and CIELO) and the calculated adjustment are shwn. SG39-6: Cmparisn f adjustment trends with the CIELO evaluatin S. Pellni presented the results with asympttic GLLS methdlgy using PIA sequence f 4 cnfiguratins and 14 integral experiments (spectral indexes and clant density effects). The adjustment reprduces the data frm CIELO, and shws cnsistency with the difference between evalautins. Hwever, the 238 U inelastic crss-sectin des cnsistently nt reprduce CIELO. Additinal assimilatins f SNEAK 7A and 7B spectral indexes were investigated. 3
4 SG39-7: Expanded adjustment in supprt f CIELO initiative G. Palmitti presented the results f adjustment cmpared against CIELO (ENDF/B-VII0b3) and JEFF-3.3T2. The classical SG33 set f integral experiments in the fast energy range was enlarged with new mre fcused experiments (SEG, FCA-IX, PROTEUS, MANTRA, and ASPIS-88). Majr findings and feedbacks were reprted fr these five istpes (e.g. reductin f 5-10% fr 238 U inelastic crss-sectin). Sme discrepancies with the current prpsed CIELO and JEFF-3.3 evaluatins were als fund and will be submitted t CIELO fr cmments. SG39-8: First preliminary results f the adjustment exercise using ASPIS Fe88 and SNEAK-7A/7B keff & beff benchmarks I. Kdeli presented preliminary results f adjustment using keff, shielding and βeff Benchmarks prviding a cmplementary view and wider scpe f validatin. Adjustments fr 56 Fe and 238 U were shwn. At the next meeting, it will be discussed n hw t harmnise the effrts n the adjustments in rder t prvide a cncerted feedback t the CIELO cmmunity. 2.4 Future Actins and Deliverables SG39-9: Discussin n future f SG39 and pssible new subgrup G. Palmitti presented the future steps fr ending SG39, with a tentative date fr the final deliverable in May A new prpsal f SG was presented entitled: Efficient and effective use f integral experiments fr nuclear data validatin. This new SG shuld fcus n frmalizing and applying a mre rbust methdlgy fr ND validatin using an apprpriate selectin f integral experiments t avid cmpensatins and prviding guidelines n hw t use sensitivities and cvariances and t prvide the backgrund fr an updated set f target accuracies. SG39-10: WPEC sub-grup prpsal: Investigatin f Cvariance Data in General Purpse Nuclear Data Libraries V. Sbes presented the prpsal fr the new WPEC/Subgrup. The main bjectives f this SG will be the develpment f methds fr systematic and cnsistent evaluatin f cvariance data fr the entire energy range, deliver examples f the applicatin f the prpsed methdlgy n a few selected istpes, and prvide an verview f the best practices f hw t generate mre cnsistent cvariance data sets. A tentative schedule and list f deliverables and participants were presented. 2.5 Cllabratin with ther SGs r EGs A. Plmpen, Chair f JEFF, presented the status f 238 U evaluatin fcusing n the new data in the RRR/JRC and URR/JRC. Regarding URR/JRC, between 20keV-149keV, he said that it wuld be the new Standard-2016 fr 238 U capture crss-sectin. He als mentined the status f the JEFF-3.3 evaluatin and hw the new URR/JRC has been discarded because it has a very negative reactivity impact in Big-ten and ther IMF benchmarks, shwing a large cmpensating effect between U5-U8 evaluatins which may cause fictitius alteratins f crss-sectins by the cancellatin f ther effects. After the meeting, O. Cabells suggested t use the Adjustment Methdlgy t re-evaluate bth files and see hw relevant is the crss-crrelatin between U5-U8 due t the U238-URR. 4
5 2.6 Perspectives and review f pending actins Finalise deliverables Actin NEA: T publish the intermediate reprt n Summary f Methdlgy and Cmments n Cvariance Data befre next meeting.
